A new cost module is also now available in LewaPlus. This can be used to determine the investment and operating costs of an ion exchange system, says the firm. The investment costs include expenses associated with installing the system as well procuring ion exchange resins. The operating cost involves expenses incurred for regeneration, water supply and wastewater disposal. A forecast helps users to estimate costs over the course of the system’s planned total service life (total cost of ownership, TCO). The new calculation options are available in LewaPlus for all ion exchange resins modules – enabling a cost comparison of various system designs and processes. These expand on the existing cost calculation for RO systems, says the firm. Using identical calculation parameters makes it possible to carry out a direct comparison of the costs of RO and ion exchange systems. Pentair uses Aquatech to announce new UF element and Web app

entair reports that it had a successful exhibition at Aquatech in Amsterdam, which was held during November. The global water treatment company used the event to announce details of its new 75 m2 ultrafiltration (UF) membrane element and the interactive Xpert Web app. In the quest for maximum membrane capacity, with a minimum footprint – to deliver greater flexibility to customers – Pentair X-Flow has developed a high-performance membrane module that increases the total membrane surface area from 64 m2 to 75 m2, without changing the module dimensions. Industrial minerals producer selects Biwater as its preferred OEM

iwater Inc, which designs, supplies and services custom water treatment systems in the desalination and water reuse industry, has been selected by Switzerland’s Omya International AG – a producer of industrial minerals and distributor of speciality chemicals – as its preferred original equipment manufacturer (OEM). Under the terms of this agreement, both companies will partner on selected projects where Biwater will perform as the preferred OEM designing, supplying and implementing the Omya Advanced Remineralization Process (OARP). The OARP has been developed for the posttreatment and remineralisation of desalinated sea water or brackish water. It is also used in advanced water reuse systems, which include desalination processes such as in indirect (IPR) or direct (DPR) potable reuse systems. he International Desalination Association (IDA) has signed an agreement with Singapore International Water Week Pte Ltd (SIPL) making it a strategic partner for Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) 2020, which is scheduled to be held on 5–9 July next year. The IDA will join close to 2000 water leaders and companies in Singapore for what is described as a platform for partners from the global water industry. As a strategic partner of SIWW, the IDA will conduct a business forum and organise a special exhibition pavilion.
