conducted in New Orleans and in Washington, D.C. in April 1987. Comments from both the hearings and the field tests were generally favorable and offered constructive suggestions that were incorporated into the revision. A final validation, based on the revision, is planned. The committee also discussed plans for publication of the standards. Four publishers have expressed interest in the book, and the committee will approach two of these in order of preference. Support for the project has been provided by the Lilly Endowment, the Exxon Education Foundation, the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, the Besser Foundation, the Western Michigan University Foundation, the George Gund Foundation, and the sponsoring organization. A proposal for support for completion of the project-specifically, for implementation of multiple dissemination approaches and for further validation-is now pending with the Office of Educational Research and Improvement of the U.S. Office of Education. This is the second major project undertaken by the Joint Committee. An earlier project resulted in publication of Standards for Evaluations of Educational Programs. Projects. and Materials in 1981. Heading both efforts has been Daniel L. Stufflebeam, Director of the Evaluation Center at Western Michigan University.

Invitation to AEA Members to Attend the Australasian Evaluation Society (AES) Conference in 1989 Anona F. Armstrong President. A ES

Visiting Evaluation '87 was a stimulating experience. I enjoyed meeting people who conduct evaluation all over the world, exchanging ideas and learning about new developments. The Australasian Evaluation Society has much in common with AEA. We had our conference during the last week of July. A call for papers is now out for next year. Following talks with the AEA Committee, we invite the members of AEA to join us at our National Evaluation Conference in 1989. Bob
