Laporte acquires share in Chemische Werke Brockhues Laporte is expanding its pigments business with the purchase of 95.6 % of the shares of Chemische Werke Brockhues AG in Germany. Brockhues is considered a world leader in the manufacture of iron oxide pigment granules. At its main site in Walluf, near Frankfurt, Germany, it produces pigments for the colouring of concrete, paper, paints, plastics and wood. During the 1980s Chemische Werke Brockhues developed a pigment colorant in a granular form, trade-named Granufii, which was said to offer significant performance improvements over powder pigments. Its principle application was in the colouring of construction products. The main benefits of Granufin are said to be 1) it is easier and cleaner to handle and incorporate in blends and consequently adapts better to automated blending systems, and 2) it is more dispersible and easier to blend.
