New vacuum seminar service A seminar service, organised by the Vacuum Products Division of the General Engineering Co (Radcliffe) Ltd, will shortly be in operation “on the road” for Higher Educational Institutions and major Industrial and Government Research Establishments.

This service is offered free of charge to any suitably qualifying organisation, and one or two-day programmes can be arranged to cover basic techniques and applications of the Science with detailed coverage in depth of any particular aspect of vacuum technology required by the individual establishment.

In charge of this seminar service is the UK Sales Manager of General Engineering’s Vacuum Products Division, Ian Gillies, with other lecturers being drawn from the various Product Specialists within the Division. Versatile recording system uses Sifam meters Sifam ‘Director’ meters are shown being fitted to a new multi-purpose electronic chart-recording system developed by Devices Instruments Ltd, Welwyn Garden City, Herts.

The system, which provides for up to eight recording channels, is said to offer unprecedented flexibility in the simultaneous monitoring and recording of various parameters in research, medical and industrial fields.

A patch panel enables interconnection between the different channel modules and for any one of the four indicating meters to be connected in circuit, as required for a particular application. The meters, supplied by Sifam Electrical Instrument Co Ltd, Torquay, provide instant visual readings whilst a permanent recording is being made by hot styli on heat sensitive charts. Lockheed Precision Products changes its name Lockheed Precision Products Ltd, Liverpool, specialist in the application of hydraulic power, has changed its name to become the Aircraft & Industrial Hydraulics Division of Automotive Products Ltd. The parent AP Group has introduced this change as part of a simplification of the whole Group structure to streamline internal administration. AP Aircraft Et Industrial Hydraulics Division designs, develops and manufactures complete hydraulic systems and components for aircraft, marine and industrial applications. On the aircraft front, AP provides complete hydraulic systems, powered flying controls and undercarriage assemblies. For the marine market, AP makes complete systems, comprising power packs, control consoles, valve actuators and flow indicators, as well as individual components. On the general industrial side, AP’s activities are manifold, varying from controls for reservoir sluice gate control to boiler damper and soot controls in power stations.
