Akcros production facility goes onstream The one-pack production unit of Akcros Chemicals Akcropak has been transferred from Roermond in the Netherlands to Greiz in Germany. The latter is a major Akcros production facility for polymer additives. The overall investment has cost around DEM 3.7 million. Horest Huss. the site manager at Greiz . evidently pleased with the decision, reports that the transfer has gone well and been undertaken with professionalism. Akcropaks can incorporate certain amounts of liquids and low melting solids and are manufactured in a range of physical forms including physical mixes, compounded powders and granular non-dusting forms. Six main objectives addressed are: higher homogeneity of the additives in the polymer matrix; lower dosage levels: increased productivity; lower dust levels: a decreased hazard of dust explosions and lower investment costs. These result partly from obviating the need to add components separately but instead as one-pack. Meanwhile in Roermond in the Netherlands a new Akcros Business Centre has been opened to centralize a range of departments moving in from the UK, Germany and other locations in the Netherlands. The centre integrates the company‘s continental business, sales and supply chain functions. The management team for Rigid PVC Additives and Polyolefins has already relocated. The integration of marketing and purchasing under one roof can allow for shorter lines of communication and better focus on efforts for improved customer service. The centre will also be the new home for the European activities of Polysulphide Chemicals, Purchasing management and some IT services. Other laboratory and support services are joining now that new technical facilities have been completed 02000
