Product news July 2010

Spray nozzle withstands Acoustic monitoring system is semi-portable high temperatures Oil-Rite Corporation has designed a spray nozzle for its PurgeX positive displacement pump.

operations, heat sealing equipment, and other applications where heat is a factor.

The nozzle can be positioned within close proximity to machinery operating at high temperatures. It features a co-axial tubing which delivers both fluid and air to the target area while keeping the dispensing mechanism itself at a safe distance from the heat source.

The PurgeX pump is powered by standard shop air (40–120 psi) that is cycled on and off. A piston within the pump forces the fluid out when the air is on and is retracted when the air is off. This action creates a suction which draws a precise amount of fluid into the internal chamber in preparation for the next cycle.

It is suitable for dispensing lubricant or industrial fluids in ovens, moulding equipment, welding

New diaphragm operated control valves Singer Valve has launched four new control valves, the 6 in and 8 in S106 full port rolling diaphragm operated control valves and the 20 in S106 full port and 24 in S206 reduced port diaphragm operated control valves. The vertical diaphragm rolls while opening and closing enabling it to lock the valve in place without any friction. This provides pressure stability from the highest to the lowest flows. By reducing pressure, this valve technology reduces leakage. The rolling diaphragm also reacts faster to changing pressures than a flat diaphragm as it typically has much less water volume above the diaphragm enabling it to respond quicker.

The valves can be used in a variety of pilot systems for different applications, such as pressure reducing, pressure sustaining, pressure relief and flow limiting. www.singervalve.com

Schaeffler has developed the AE-Pro, a semi-portable acoustic emission monitoring system suitable for use in plants that don’t require a fixed system, but still need instantaneous data collection. AE-Pro captures acoustic emission signals generated by machinery and other rotating components and systems.

Schaeffler says that with the addition of the AE-Pro, its condition monitoring range now includes both vibration and acoustic emission monitoring systems. This means that engineers can select the most suitable condition monitoring solution from a wide range of acoustic and vibration monitoring products and services. www.schaeffler.com

Diamond material aids mechanical seals Advanced Diamond Technologies (ADT) has developed UNCD T30, a diamond material which has been optimized to withstand fluid loss or dry running in mechanical seals for fluid pumps. When applied to a silicon carbide mechanical seal face, UNCD T30 can be run against a variety of hard counterface materials, such as silicon carbide, graphitized silicon

carbide, or another diamond face, in abrasive applications, at extreme temperatures, or under poorly lubricated conditions. Running UNCD T30 against a silicon carbide counterface reduces the energy dissipation due to friction at the interface by 75% when compared to running silicon carbide against itself. www.thindiamond.com

“Most water utilities now have a greater emphasis on smaller pressure zones (District Metered Areas, [known as] DMAs) and the 6 in and 8 in are by far the most popular sizes for these DMAs,” said Brad Clarke, VP of sales & marketing for Singer Valve. “The rolling diaphragm is proven to reduce water loss and leakage in changing flow systems, which is why these customers have been asking for this technology.” www.worldpumps.com
