In a trading update for the year ended 31 July 2016, Smiths said that full year headline operating profit is also anticipated to be above expectations but below 2015 levels, with the reduction in John Crane profits more than offsetting the favourable impact of the stronger US dollar and improved underlying profitability other divisions. www.smiths.com • Swiss pump manufacturer CP Pumpen AG has won a silver award for corporate social responsibility (CSR) following an assessment by France’s EcoVadis SAS. “We understand that sustainable CSR measures are decisive for the relationship to our clients, the society and the environment. But we strike to develop constantly also in the field of CSR,” said Thomas Würsch, CEO of CP Pumpen. www.cp-pumpen.com and www.ecovadis.com • The British Pump Manufacturers’ Association (BPMA) and the European Sealing Association have entered into a mutual cooperation agreement. New name for Bilfinger Nordson puts polymer melt delivery Water Technologies equipment under ollowing its sale earlier this year to the Chinese company Chengdu F BKG brand Techcent Environment Group, the former Bilfinger subsidiary Water Technologies has been renamed Aqseptence Group (see Pump Industry Analyst, February and April 2016). “Combining the words ‘aqua’ and ‘separation’, the name evokes associations of our core businesses of water and separation technology,” said Joachim Foerderer, chairman of the management board of the Aqseptence Group. “At the same time it echoes the respect and standing that our employees and internationally renowned corporate brands enjoy among customers and business partners.” Aqseptence is home to a number of brands including Passavant, Geiger, Noggerath, Johnson Screens, Diemme Filtration, Airvac and Roediger. Diemme Filtration piston and piston-membrane pumps are manufactured for filter press feeding and are suitable for pumping abrasive or corrosive liquids. Aqseptence says that it is well equipped for the future under its new ownership. “In Chengdu Environment we have a parent company that fits outstandingly with our products, services and strategy,” said Foerderer. According to Foerderer, the expertise Aqseptence has in filtration and separation technology meshes seamlessly with its new owner’s operations. “And conversely, Chengdu Techcent’s competence in areas like centrifuge construction and process technology represents a fine addition to Aqseptence’s range of operations,” said Foerderer. “Together with Chengdu Techcent we will be maintaining the successful course we have pursued to date,” added Foerderer. “The situation augurs well for expanding our business: we will keep extending our operations, strengthening our global presence and continuing our strategy of sustainably profitable growth.” Aqseptence Group, which has approximately 1600 employees, posted sales of almost €300 million for the last financial year. ordson Corp is aligning all of its melt delivery systems under the BKG product brand name. The BKG brand, known for pelletizer systems, is also now the name for the company’s range of polymer melt delivery equipment, including filtration systems, ovens, gear pumps and valves. Melt filtration systems, gear pumps and valves previously offered under the Kreyenborg brand, and screen changers, ovens and gear pumps previously sold under the Xaloy brand are now included under the BKG brand. The new brand names for the polymer melt delivery equipment will be BKG HiCon Filtering System for self-cleaning systems; BKG NorCon Screen Changers for continuous and discontinuous screen changers; BKG BlueFlow for gear pumps; and BKG HyFlex for valves. Nordson is also expanding its operations in Münster, Germany to house sales, engineering, production and aftermarket services for BKG pelletizers, melt filtration systems, gear pumps and valves. The melt delivery system business that Nordson acquired from Kreyenborg in 2013 will be moved from its existing facility in Münster and combined with the nearby BKG pelletizer business. “The expansion in Münster is part of a substantial global investment by Nordson in its polymer processing range of products, including other expansion projects and investments in Europe and China, a buildup of the support team around the world, and innovations for each of our polymer product families,” said Nordson senior vice president John Keane. “Our goal is a seamless worldwide operation that is at the same time highly localised, providing ground-breaking products and rapid service to customers whenever possible in their own time zones and languages.” “We will be adding advanced engineering and manufacturing systems, a new warehouse and inventory system, a dedicated aftermarket section, and an expanded technology centre,” said Godfrey Sandham, vice president for Nordson’s polymer products business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. “This project will increase our support for customers throughout the world by expanding our capabilities for manufacturing,

U

S pump distributor Tencarva Machinery Co LLC has acquired Dixie Pump & Machine Works in Brookhaven, Mississippi from father and son owners Reggie and Collins Allen.

August 2016

Founded in 2006, Dixie Pump & Machine Works is a repair facility primarily for rotating equipment, with 11 employees, serving customers in Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas and Louisiana. In addition to Dixie Pump, Tencarva also purchased assets of a portion of Brookhavenbased Predictive Maintenance Consultants (PMC) that relates to rotating equipment. Transitioning immediately to the Tencarva Machinery Co LLC brand, the Brookhaven location will collaborate with Tencarva’s Jackson, Mississippi branch office to serve customers throughout the state of Mississippi. Both Allens will continue to be involved in Tencarva, with Collins serving as Brookhaven branch manager and Reggie as a consultant. Edwin W Pearce, president of Tencarva, said: “We are excited to bring Dixie Pump into the Tencarva family, as the services they provide will greatly enhance our value proposition for customers in the western most part of our footprint. We have wanted to expand our service capabilities on our western front, and this acquisition allows us to do so. Dixie is extremely customer focused, which is consistent with our philosophy.” “We started Dixie Pump & Machine Works in 2006 after a local mill we had been providing electric motor repair and predictive maintenance to went through an acquisition by a larger company, and all of their pump mechanics were let go,” explained Collins Allen. “We were able to hire those guys and keep them working right here at home while providing a much needed service to our customers. It has always been our goal to deliver the highest quality repair to our valued customers, and we know that without our highly skilled workforce that would not have been possible. When we talked about joining Tencarva, we saw that Tencarva also highly valued their employees and provides a superior service to their customers. It was only then that we felt comfortable aligning our company with Tencarva Machinery and gladly joined their team.” For further information, visit www.tencarva.com
