A utobacter hnpalae and A . maxivans Historical Notes: The first oilc o n s u m i n g h u m a n - m a d e bacterial species. H. Ford experimented with several serotypes at the turn o f the century, then patented group T in 1909.

M o r b i d i t y / m o r t a l i t y : In U . S . A . Autobacter injures some 1.5 million annually. Pathogenic strains cause a b o u t 25,000 deaths, but " n o n p a t h o g e n s " cause just as many. A m e r i c a n strains peaked in 1957 and are n o w declining and susceptible to a u t o p h a g y by the Toyotavirus.
Identification: Produces a b u n d a n t green discharge. M o r p h o l o g y : Pleomorphic. Some investigators report rods, some vibrios, some spirochetes. Motile

Bordello pertussis
S y m p t o m a t o l o g y : Spinning vertigo, sweating, tachycardia, and straight flushing. Definitive diagnosis: 8:1 a n t i b o d y titer is p a t h o g n o m o n i c for infection. T r e a t m e n t : There are three sanitariums in U . S . A . , two in N e v a d a and one in New Jersey. Patients usually remain until cured.
E p i d e m i o l o g y : Most c o m m o n l y seen in upper socioeconomic classes. Medical students are particularly prone to infection, which remains latent for ca. 5 years; then progresses to florid n e w m o n e y a .
