25 mm mains input filter Surface-mounting mains input filters have been manufactured by Waycom of~the UK. The WF254\ . mains filter, designed for PCB mounhng, is encapsulated in a 1 in (25.4mm) cube case with 0.7 mm diameter pin terminals. Standoff feet are provided for PCB cleaning. The screw surfacemounting WF150 is fitted with axially arranged terminals. Both devices are available i n 2 A and 6 A ratings at 250 VAC. Mbyte on Q-bus board
A family of front-panel components, including LEDs and LED holders, miniature binary-coded decimal or hexadecimal code switches, 2 mm diameter test and switch sockets, and test and shorting j acks,~has been introduced by Swiss manufacturer Elma Electronics. The components are available singly or in blocks ready for assembly. They are designed to be fitted directly onto boards mounted perpendicular to front panels, and to conform to the DIN 41494 standard. Maximum installed height is 10.5 ram. Memory storage of 1 Mbyte on a single Q-bus board has been made available by DEC. The MSV11-QA is a quad-high board that supports 22-bit addressing for both Q-bus and LSI-11 bus protocols, allowing a user to configure up to 4 Mbyte of memory on the Q-bus. The board contains a control and status register and circuitry to generate and check parity. Blockmode direct memory access is supported. DiP houses V-to-~ converter/transmitter Burr-Brown has introduced what it claims to be 'the industry's first multifunction precision monolithic voltage-to-current converter/ transmitter'. The XTR110 is designed to function either as a current-mode transmitter or as a programmable current source. The device is designed to convert 0-5V and 0-10V inputs into 4-20mA, 0-20mA or 5-25 mA outputs. As a programmable current source, says Burr-Brown, the XTR110 can be used in test equipment, transducers, bridges or resistive temperature-dependent sensors. Output pins are separated from the power supply, permitting the applications where input voltages are referenced to ground. The device is housed in a 16-pin dual-inline package and includes a 10 V reference which drives loads of up to 10 mA. An external transistor may be added to provide higher current outputs. Burr-Brown quotes the maximum nonlinearity as 0.01% and the operating temperature range as from -55°C to 125°C. Capacitors for PCBs Rubycon of Japan has introduced a range of electrolytic capacitors designed for use on PCBs. The XLP/XRP series has a capacitance range of 100-150001uF (tolerance quoted as + 20%) across a 10-250 V working voltage range, and an operating temperature range from -40°C to +105°C. Multibus board with CPU and intelligent I/0 control A CPU and intelligent I/O controller for Multibus has been made by US company Metacomp. The MPA 2000 single-board computer uses an iAPX processor running at B MHz and provides 12 kbyte or 512 kbyte of dynamic RAM with parity. Four EPROM sockets with a maximum capacity of 256 kbyte are provided, of which two may be configured for static RAM or E2pROM devices. Onboard direct memory access (D/VIA) is interfaced to two I/O adaptor connections via i8237A-5 DMA controllers. As each connection provides four channels, the MPA 2000 supports eight programmable DMA channels. Adaptors are available for a variety of applications, including serial and parallel I/0, local area networks and SASI/SCSI interfaces. MPA 2000 hardware was designed to accomodate most operating systems, and the ~ystem can be ordered with or without operational firmware ROM.
