Peer review report 1 on “Development and evaluation of an “Interdisciplinary postoperative support program” in outpatient clinics after thoracic esophagectomy” 1. Original submission 1.1. Recommendation Major Revision. 1.2. Comments to the author The authors have designed a prospective study to assess the value of a support program for patients undergoing esophagectomy in a high-volume institution. Main findings of this study is that a support program contributes to a reduced incidence of unscheduled outpatient visits. The manuscript is interesting and provides new data on the short-term outcome of esophagectomy that may

be useful to surgeons practising esophageal surgery to better serve the patient. I have the following suggestions: 1) paragraph 2.3, page 7, move the number of patients at the beginning of the results section; 2) to better define the patient sample you may want to add a flow-diagram right before table 1; 3) page 8, check reference 9, it seems inappropriate in this context; 4) please clarify the last sentence of the discussion; 5) english Language needs some minor revisions.
