bara Boshan Pumps Co Ltd is planning a Yn32 million expansion of its factory in Boshan, China. The investment will add approximately 4600 sq m to the plant, reinforcing pump test facilities and extending the pump assembly shop. The expansion is scheduled for completion in summer 2011. The factory, which mainly manufactures feed pumps and cooling water pumps for thermal power and nuclear power plants, first opened in 2006. Ebara Boshan Pumps is a joint venture company between Japan’s Ebara Corp and China’s Shandong Boshan Pump Science and Technology Co.

ITT seals Godwin Pumps acquisition

TT Corp has completed the acquisition of Godwin Pumps, a specialist in the sale and rental of automatic self-priming portable pumps for the global industrial, construction, mining, municipal, oil and gas markets (see Pump Industry Analyst, June 2010). “Combining the Godwin team with our own creates a leading offering in dewatering pumps and services, and fits well with our strategy to build on our strong global positions in water and wastewater management,” said Gretchen McClain, president of the ITT Fluid and Motion Control group. “Adding the specialised products and skills of the world-class Godwin team to our broad Flygt and Grindex submersible pump portfolio and ITT global sales network means our customers will have access to one of the broadest dewatering capabilities on the market.” Godwin Pumps has a US rental fleet of more than 6000 pumps at 26 equipment rental facilities and a network of approximately 50 distributors worldwide. Godwin Pumps had 2009 revenues of about US$200 million, with full-year 2010 revenue projected to be about US$235 million. The newly acquired business will operate within ITT’s Water & Wastewater business, 16

entair has doubled the large pump testing capacity of its Kansas City, Kansas, manufacturing plant, following a US$2.3 million investment. Construction has recently been completed on the Test Floor Expansion Project, which will provide additional deep water testing capability for large municipal, commercial and industrial products to meet growing customer demand. Pumps with the Fairbanks Morse, Layne/ Verti-Line and Aurora pump brands are manufactured in the Pentair Kansas City facility, which first opened its doors in 1953.

KSB extends India foundry
K
SB Group has increased the capacity of its steel foundry in Vambori, India. By adding two new natural gas-fired furnaces, KSB has increased steel castings output from 300 tons to 1200 tons per year. The Vambori foundry specialises in difficult to cast steels and stainless steels, for example duplex and chrome steels, or ASTM grades such as CF8M, CF3M or CN7M. The new environmentally friendly foundry has a flue gas collector and dust extraction systems to control air pollution and its own water treatment plant. Up to 80% of the sand used for moulds and cores is reclaimed. The foundry has three ovens: one for drying moulds, one for drying cores and another for scrap metal heating. KSB says that demand for high-quality steel castings within the global group is continuously increasing.
