Philippa Moore Publication Prize Acknowledging Excellence in Publication
Call for Nominations 2008 CENA recognises the importance of publication in emergency nursing and endeavours to support members to publish quality journal articles, book chapters, or entire books that are pertinent to emergency nursing. The CENA Philippa Moore Publication Prize is an award of up to $500 and is designed to reward and encourage CENA members to publish articles that are relevant to emergency nursing. Philippa Moore was a highly respected emergency nurse and active member of the Emergency Nurses’ Special Interest Group, Emergency Nurses Association of Victoria and College of Emergency Nursing Australasia. Sadly, Philippa passed away in 2003 after a short illness.
Application Process Nominations must be submitted using the nomination form and be received by the due date and must comply with nomination guidelines addressing all criteria and include appropriate supporting documents. Nomination forms are available from the CENA website (www.cena.org.au). Nominations must be addressed clearly marked and be submitted via email or post at the address listed below. Nominations received after the closing date or which do not meet the criteria, or do not have requested supporting documents will be deemed ineligible and excluded from competition.

Nominator(s) must be financial member(s) of CENA Nominee must, at the time of nomination, be a financial member of CENA for a period of at least 2 years Only items published between 1st July 2007 - 30th June 2008 will be considered In Press items if available on-line prior to 30th June 2008 will also be considered (proof of availability date must be supplied) An electronic copy of the item must be submitted for assessment Finalists (or delegate) must register to attend the CENA conference dinner
Selection Panel The Selection Panel will be appointed and chaired by the Editor-in-Chief of the Australasian Emergency Nursing Journal. The decision of the Editor-in-Chief as Chair of the Selection Panel is final.
Notification of Finalists & Presentation The Philippa Moore Publication Prize shall be awarded at the Conference Dinner during the 3rd National Conference for Emergency Nurses: ‘Networking – Crossing Borders’ in Perth, 28-30 August 2008. Nominees are requested to register and attend the Conference Dinner. Three Finalists shall be notified in writing 6 weeks prior to the conference dinner. In the event the nominee is unable to attend the conference dinner, the nominee must nominate a delegate to accept the award on their behalf. Failure of a Finalist or their appointed delegate to attend the conference dinner will forfeit the prize. Winners’ names will be placed on the honour board on the official CENA website in perpetuity. Names and photos will be published in official CENA and Elsevier publications. Only 1 cheque per finalist will be drawn and awarded.
