PROCEEDINGS OF THE 5TH ISVEE SYMPOSIUMNOW AVAILABLE The 5th International Symposium on Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics was held 25-29 July 1988 at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, Copenhagen, Denmark, and the meeting attracted 230 participants from 27 countries. The subjects covered by the symposium included: Animal Health and Production Management; Modern Methods of Public Health Practice; The Comparative Approach to Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine; New Developments in Animal Health Monitoring; Economics of Infectious and Noninfectious Diseases; Training in Basic and Applied Epidemiology; Analytical Methods and Modelling. During the 5 days, eight plenary papers and 125 contributed papers were presented. The meeting also included a poster session with 13 presentations, and PC-software Workshops where demonstration of 13 non-commercial software programmes provided a forum for discussion and exchange of computerized procedures developed for field applications of epidemiology and economics. The Proceedings of the Symposium, containing the 133 papers presented and abstracts of the poster and software presentations, have now been pub-
