Sonderhoff Services’ material systems and dosing systems are optimally matched to each other. This results in synergy effects that enable the firm to meet different component requirements to a particularly high degree. For example, it is possible to set different curing and tack-free times for the material systems, depending on the customer’s requirements.

Sonderhoff Services GmbH based in Cologne, Germany, and part of Henkel AG & Co KGaA, says that its machine park has been expanded to include dosing systems suitable for machine processing of Henkel’s one-component adhesives TEROSON® and LOCTITE®. Not only do they ensure precise, contouraccurate dispensing, but the company can also master complex joining processes using these adhesives. In addition, customers benefit from Henkel’s extensive product portfolio. The company takes responsibility for sealing and mould foaming, bonding and casting of components, using Sonderhoff Engineering dosing systems, for suppliers and OEMs operating in a range of user industries. The contract manufacturer is able to choose from more than 1000 Sonderhoff material systems, based on polyurethane, silicone and PVC, for fully automatic, contour-accurate dosing on components. The liquid material flows into each other at the beginning and end of the seal, so that after foaming, a “seamless” soft foam seal is formed by the chemical reaction. The seal hardens at room temperature. By compressing the foam seal it is possible to compensate for manufacturing tolerances of a component, which is well sealed all around. The form in-place (FIP) technology used is already the production standard in many industries. ‘The FIP process is significantly more economical than a manually inserted seal,’ explains Jörg Dethlefs, project manager in the technical sales department at Sonderhoff Services. The automated application enables higher cycle times to be achieved, compared with a manual process. In addition, consistently high process quality avoids rejects, which ultimately leads to significant cost savings with consistently high quality.
