The v a r i a b l e ratio, h y d r a u l i c a l l y d r i v e n MultiflowCMFH m o d e l is s u i t a b l e for a v a r i e t y of resin s y s t e m s including epoxies, polyesters, u r e t h a n e s and methacrylates, t h e c o m p a n y says. The m a c h i n e is b u i l t w i t h p a t e n t e d Posiload metering p u m p s and can p u m p m e t h y l - e t h y l - k e t o n e - p e r o x i d e (MEKP) a n d BPO catalyst e m u l s i o n s u n d i l u t e d a t c o n c e n t r a t i o n s d o w n to 0.5%. R a t i o s f r o m 1:1 to 200:1 a n d flow r a t e s f r o m 2.3 to 45 kg a m i n u t e can be a c c o m m o d a t e d , a c c o r d i n g to L i q u i d Control. The m a c h i n e is said to be c a p a b l e of h a n d l i n g a v a r i e t y of fillers i n c l u d i n g c a l c i u m c a r b o n a t e , a l u m i n ium t r i h y d r a t e a n d h o l l o w glass m i c r o s p h e r e s a n d t h e m e t e r i n g a c c u r a c y is n o t a f f e c t e d by b a c k p r e s s u r e f r o m closed m o u l d s . The m a n u f a c t u r e r says t h a t a h i g h - f o w o v e r / u n d e r i n j e c t i o n block a t t h e m i x e r inlet e n s u r e s p r o p e r i n t r o d u c t i o n of c a t a l y s t to resin. T h e s e m a t e r i a l s are t h o r o u g h l y b l e n d e d in a m i x e r p r i o r to i n j e c t i o n i n t o the mould. An o p t i o n a l f e a t u r e is a p n e u m a t i c cycle c o u n t e r to a u t o m a t i c a l l y cycle t h e m a c h i n e a p r e s e t n u m b e r of s t r o k e s for p r e c i s e m o u l d filling.

Environmentally friendly impregnator Emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) can be controlled using its new PP impregnator, a US equipment m a n u f a c t u r e r claims. B i n k s M a n u f a c t u r i n g of Franklin Park, Illinois, says that it is answering the VOC challenge by engineering and building more efficient material transfer systems. The impregnator is said 1:o be c a p a b l e of u n i f o r m l y ~wetting-out' glass reinforcements with a minimum of styrene emissions, complying with California Rule 11(}2. The system is able to deliver higher production rates for large and small parts while coping with glass contents up to 70% according to the manufacturers. Resin volume is up to 16 kg (35 lbs) a minute. Other features of the machine include the abiliW to handle reinforcements up to 1.5 m (60 inches) wide and weighing between 671356 g/m 2 (2-40 oz/yard2) When c o u p l e d w i t h a Binks Super Slave for polyesters or the Super Pro formulator for plural component systems the company claims t h a t the RP i m p r e g n a t o r gives fast, dependable, quality ~vet-out' with minimum emissions.
