news product and services Seal protection package Burgmann Seal’s new Accredited Seal Accessibility Program (ASAP) covers the American market place and provides 72-hour turnaround protection for all makes and models of centrifuge, agitator, and mixer seals. The service package should allow end-users to reduce parts inventories and simplify their maintenance operations by dealing with a single-source provider for all their seal maintenance needs. All seal repairs are carried out by Burgmann maintenance personnel at company-owned repair facilities across the USA. In addition to the repair service, ASAP subscribers will also receive a seal repair observation report analyzing the cause of the damage. Seal upgrade and replacement recommendations will be provided when appropriate. The report should help endusers to ensure that they have specified their systems correctly and are maximizing its potential. www.worldpumps.com - RES No.205

Ultrasonic solution for flow measurement Schubert & Salzer has developed the MC 3440 ultrasonic flow meter for measuring small quantities of liquid in the beverage and chemical industries, especially important in transfer pump applications. The ultrasonic measuring principle is completely non-contact so it’s independent of the chemical and physical properties of the medium that is to be measured. This ensures that there is no possibility of the device affecting the product flow or its accurate measurement. Schubert & Salzer manufacture valves, measuring devices and meters for the control of gaseous and liquid media across a range of different industries. www.worldpumps.com - RES No.207

Range of metering pumps completed by new model The Sigma/1 metering pump from Prominent® has completed the company’s Sigma series, offering low to medium outputs equivalent to flow rates of between 17-120 l/h. The pump is equipped with a PVDF liquid end as standard and can optionally be fitted with an integrated safety overflow valve and/or a Developan® safety diaphragm with an in-built failure sensor. For special applications, for example in the food and drink sector, stainless steel liquid ends can also be specified. The mechanical diaphragm-type metering pump is equipped with a standardized micro-

processor controller, which is also employed on the other Sigma pump models and the company’s solenoid-driven gamma/L series metering pump. Since all the pumps feature identical control technology, and are interchangeable by simply replugging the connections, conversion to a pump with a different performance rating is a possibility. In common with its abovementioned sister pumps, the Sigma/1 model can also be specified with an optional Profibus® interface for added control flexibility. www.worldpumps.com - RES No.206

The Sigma/1 mechanical diaphragmtype metering pump from Prominent is designed to dispense at low to medium outputs.

New corrosion-resistant Teflon® pumps Stan-Cor Pumps latest product release is a new series of centrifugal ANSI pumps that feature a solid Teflon® pump head. The Stan-Cor Teflon Series has excellent chemical compatibility and strong corrosion resistance. It can handle fluid temperatures up to 325°F and is designed to pump dirty abrasive reclaim process fluids in demanding industrial applications. The total dynamic head available to endusers is 90 ft and flow rates of up to 500 gpm are achievable. The advantages of using Teflon for the pump head material are that alterative metallic pumps require a high alloy content to attain corrosion resistance, which makes them expensive to make. The Stan-Cor Teflon Series should, therefore, be cheaper. The manufacturers are also claiming a lead-time of just fivedays for end-user delivery – which, if true, would be an

and reduced shaft deflection. A heavy-duty drive shaft and duplex contact thrust bearings will also protect the pump against damage and should ensure durable performance. www.worldpumps.com - RES No.208
