20 years of encapsulated
seals
Row, Inc., manufacturer of Teflon encapsulated O-rings and gaskets, is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in 1996. A unique sealing application led to the company’s creation in 1976. William Vischer, President and one of the three founders of the company, was then involved in the manufacture of commercial steam
pressure cookers, which required a self-lubricating door seal to seal against 15 psi steam pressure. Vischer developed a Teflon encapsulated elastomeric O-ring which offered the chemically-inert properties of Teflon, and a self-lubricating surface, resulting in a superior seal. Row manufactures Teflon encapsulated silicone, fluoroelastomer and EPDM O-rings in round or square cross-sections. The O-rings have FEP Teflon encapsulation with a temperature range of -75°F to 400°F and PFA Teflon encapsulation providing increased mechanical strength, better flex-life and longer wearability with a temperature range of -75” to 500°F. The company also makes Teflon encapsulated silicone, fluoroelastomer and EPDM gaskets in rectangular cross-sections with FEP Teflon encapsulation.
