Siemens to supply wastewater reuse solution to Brazilian refinery

S

iemens Water Technologies is working with Centroprojekt do Brasil S/A to deliver an integrated wastewater technology solution to the Presidente Getulio Vargas Refinery (Repar) in Araucaria, Parana State, Brazil. The system will consist of API oil water separators, dissolved air flotation (DAF) units, walnut shell filter units, and a Petro MBR (membrane bioreactor) system. Scheduled to come online in 2012, the system is designed to pre-treat 450 m3 per hour of the treated water for reuse as boiler feed water.

CDM awarded 5-year water, wastewater improvement project in Jordan

DM has been selected by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to develop a water and wastewater infrastructure master plan and to design and deliver water and wastewater infrastructure improvements in Jordan. The 5-year, multi-site, multi-project investment program will improve systems and water resources management in Amman, Zarqa, Ma’an, Tafilah and Jerash.

uez Environnement, through its subsidiary Sino French Water, has secured a new 30-year concession, with a possible 20-year extension, for industrial water services in the

Chongqing Changshou Chemical Industrial Park in Chongqing, China. In a joint venture with Chongqing Water Group and Changshou Chemical Industrial Park Development and Construction Co Ltd, Suez Environnement will manage and upgrade the current water and wastewater facilities with state-of-the-art technologies as well as improve the management system to provide industrial water production, distribution, industrial effluents collection and treatment services to all companies in the park.

Mitsubishi-led consortium to buy United Utilities Australia

U

nited Utilities has entered into an agreement to sell its subsidiary United Utilities Australia Pty Ltd to a consortium led by Mitsubishi Corp in a transaction valued at A$225 million. The consortium includes Mitsubishi, the Innovation Network Corporation of Japan, Manila Water Co Inc and JGC Corp. These companies already have major investments in the worldwide water and wastewater treatment sectors, including the management of regulated water concessions, public-private partnerships and the design and construction of water and wastewater treatment plants. Earlier this year, Mitsubishi and JGC each acquired a 33.3% share in Ebara Corp’s Ebara Engineering Services Co Ltd (see Pump Industry Analyst, February 2010).
