Taylor Hobson offers portable surface roughness tester

A

versatile and portable roughness tester that supports a wide range of surface measurement applications has been introduced by Taylor Hobson Ltd of Leicester, UK, part of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices company Ametek Inc. For ease of use, the new Surtronic S-100 Series includes a large touch-screen and intuitive software, says the UK-based manufacturer of ultra-precision measurement instruments. It is suitable for use both on the shop floor and in an inspection room. It has a versatile design and features a 50-mm stylus lift with a right-angle attachment and stylus reach of over 70 mm. This enables even the most challenging surface measurement to be accomplished without the use of expensive riser blocks, stands or fixtures, says the firm. The robust stylus can also measure upside down. Several connectivity choices are provided by ̅iʈ˜ÃÌÀՓi˜Ì½Ãʈ˜`ÕÃÌÀއÃÌ>˜`>À`Ê1- Ê>˜`Ê USB mini ports. Roughness measurements for multiple parts can be stored internally or saved to a standard USB memory device. The USB port also can be used to attach a portable printer. This enables hard-copy data to accompany a part to the next stage of manufacture. The mini port also can be used to charge the device using any standard USB charger or to connect to a PC for data analysis and reporting. /…iÊÌiÃÌiÀ½ÃÊÀÕLLiÀˆÃi`]ʈ“«>V̇ÀiÈÃÌ>˜ÌÊLœ`ÞÊ offers protection and an improved comfort grip. It surrounds the recessed, Mylar-protected highdurability screen and a solid stainless steel drive mechanism with anti-wear gears and bearings.

The facility is part of the Trelleborg Sealing Solutions business area of the Trelleborg Group and represents an upgrade of the existing facility in Condé. The investment of approximately E5 million is funded by Trelleborg in conjunction with the Calvados Council and the Community of Municipalities of the county of Condé. Manufacturing of aerospace components will continue in Condé in the new 3500-m2 (37 670-ft2) plant that will employ around one hundred executives and skilled workers, says the company. Local dignitaries, Pascal Allizard, Mayor of Condé sur Noireau and Jean-Léonce Dupont, Président Conseil Général du Calvados, attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the first stone laid for the new facility.
