Methods: The Supersports Initiative was set up in April 2014 to give children, young people and their families the opportunity to try different sports and activities which they may not have the opportunity to try without joining a club or attending a class. The programme provides equipment and drills so that the specific sport or activity can be done at home, in the garden or park. Sports coaches and sports personalities helped facilitate taster sessions each month, run in the evenings. The programme is open to all children, young people and their families who come in to contact RHSC Glasgow. Children and young people of all ages and abilities attend and each session is tailored to meet the needs of the children and young people who attend. Results: Since April 2014 the Supersports Programme has focussed on 5 different sports and activities. 42 Children and young people have attended. Those who attended are asked to provide feedback on the session. Comments received so far show that parents are pleased the initiative offers and activity at the Hospital that is not about being unwell, it is inclusive and children of all ages and abilities are able to join in, it is a useful way of reintroducing children back into physical activity if they have been in hospital for some time. Conclusion(s): The initiative has been well received by the children, young people and families who have attended. The families report having more ideas on how to get their child more active at home without having to joining specific clubs or finding classes. Implications: Data need to be collected on how this initiative has increased habitual physical activity levels and reduced sedentary time. nonspecific chronic neck patients. No study has investigated the posture–cognition interaction in individuals with chronic neck pain. Purpose: To investigate the effect of allocation of attentional resources on postural control in people with chronic nonspecific neck pain. Methods: Postural stability was measured by force plate with dual-task paradigm in 24 non-specific chronic neck pain & 24 matched healthy subjects. Each case performed double limb and single limb standing with 2 levels of difficulty (rigid–foam surface) and 3 cognitive conditions (no-easydifficult). As well as postural stability was assessed by timed up&go test. Data were analyzed by 3-way repeated measurement ANOVA. Results: Subjects with non-specific CNP had larger postural sway than healthy subjects (p < 0.05). Postural sway decreased with cognitive task (p < 0.05). Effect cognitive difficulty on postural sway was significantly different between groups in SD velocity and medio-lateral parameter in single limb. Patients had lower cognitive performance (p < 0.05). Conclusion(s): Present study confirmed disruption in information processing in people with non-specific chronic neck pain. Implications: It is recommended to apply dual-task paradigm in balance training programs for patients with chronic neck pain in order to facilitate central information processing.
