chers in urban goods movement. Data were collected in six United States cities-Boston, St. Paul, San Francisco, Phoenix, Dallas and Oklahoma City-on more than 12,000 pickups and deliveries made from the curb. Regression equations correlate the amount of traffic blockage as a function of traffic engineering variables. Six traffic engineering strategies are proposed for reducing the impacts of pickups and deliveries on traffic flow.

addresses of over 23,000 executives of more than 13,000 industrial and commerical firms throughout the United States and Canada. This is considered total coverage of firms having either full- or part-time traffic departments. Over 1600 additional executives are listed in a special section devoted to hundreds of activities related to transportation, such as consultants, chambers of commerce, associations, state and federal government departments, agencies, commissions and committees.

This book provides a capsule description of currently available information sources in all modes of freight transportation. Detailed information on ordering publications is also included. It has been designed as an information management tool for managers, planners and researchers concerned with freight. Current sources of specialized facts and statistics in eight major topic areas are covered: air transportation, highways and truck transportation, railroads and rail transportation, waterways and marine transportation, pipelines, general commodity classifications and freight traffic flows. For each major topic information is given on lists of publications, bibliographies, guides and directories, maps, statistical presentations and special studies and services.

This report provides capacity and timing analysis methods to aid the design of signal controlled intersections. It is written for traffic engineers and planners concerned with the management of traffic in urban areas; engineers concerned with detailed geometric and operational design of individual, and networks of, signalised intersections; manufacturers of traffic signal controllers; researchers interested in modelling and optimization aspects of traffic signals and traffic engineering lecturers and students.
