t is a great honour to be elected as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Canada (JOGC) (Figure 1). I am humbled that the Society placed its faith and trust in me. This is a responsibility that I do not take lightly, and I will endeavour to manage and bring JOGC to the forefront of medical journals. I would like to express my appreciation to the dedication and commitment of Dr Timothy Rowe, who was the Editor-in-Chief, and to the Editorial Board members and staffs 2005-2016 (Figure 2). Thanks to them, all JOGC’s Figure 1. Dr. Togas Tulandi

articles are now in PubMed, making it attractive for authors to submit their work to the Journal. It will be even more appealing if JOGC has an impact factor, one of my immediate goals. Once we achieve this objective, we will work further to increase this impact factor. To make JOGC one of the leading electronic journals in obstetrics and gynaecology, we have to take advantage of the progress in information technologies. The use of the web will facilitate timely and rapid publication of the journal, including publication of colour images or video clips economically. Besides hardcopy and electronic copy of the Journal on the website, we will also explore and use other social media channels, including Twitter, a Journal iPad app, YouTube, and Facebook. An important feature of JOGC is the publication of Practice Guidelines. Those guidelines are used by our Figure 2. Dr. Timothy Rowe

trainees and clinicians nationally as well as internationally. In addition to original and review articles, the journal will certainly continue publishing guidelines. We will also accept case reports and video clips; yet, they have to be educational. All submissions will be reviewed critically and objectively and have to comply with Ethics in Publishing, including no plagiarism or double publication. We cannot achieve our objectives without strong support from the Associate Editors, Managing Editor, Editorial

board members and staffs, and the publisher as well as from the reviewers, authors, and readers. As the new Editor-in Chief of the JOGC, I am asking you to submit manuscripts and be a reviewer of the Journal. In recognition of your contribution, we plan to provide CME credits to the reviewers and a letter to the Department Chair or Chief of Service regarding your contribution at the end of the year.
