PROIXJCT INFORMATION Blending of organid inorganic colourants

BASF is combining nickel and chrome titanates with high performance organics such as q~opl~thalone and perelene to achieve higher the~al stability, opacity, lightfas~ess, and vivid shades similar to those of traditional cadmium. The first of these series has now been commercialized under the trade-name Sicoplast. Products include two yellows, two reds, and an orange in the cadtnium range.

Highly filled PBT

General Electric Plastics say that recently developed “heavy” mineral-filled polybutylene terephthalate compounds will enlarge the realm of engineering plastics applications by adding the dimensions of weight and ceramic-like prope~ies. Called Heavy Valox by General Electric Plastics, two highly filled PEST grades for injection moulding are now commercially available.
