company... AMD's and Siemens' joint-owned company, Advanced Micro computers has been split into two. 'AMC Advanced Mikro Computer GmbH' at Ottobrunn, near Munich, now belongs entirely to Siemens, while 'Advanced Micro Computers' in Sunnyvale has been taken over by AMD. Until recently Siemens owned 60% of AMC and AMD 40%. Spokesmen for the companies involved explained that the change was prompted by the differences in market conditions in the US and Europe. Siemens' 20% participation in AMD remains. Motorola's MC6805 simulator modu/e

W i s e before the event? Motorola has developed a simulator module, M EX6805SIM, for systems designers and programmers who wish to familiarize themselves with the MC6805 microcomputer, which should by now be available in production quantities. The simulator operates in nonreal time, using an M6800 firmware resident program designed to

execute M6805 object code. The MEX6805S!M module plugs directly into the motherboard or an

Better yields? 'A major technological breakthrough in wafer processing that could revolutionize semiconductor manufacturing has been found', says Motorola. According to Dr. Henry Hughes, the Motorola senior scientist responsible for the work, a plasma developable photoresist (PDP) process has been developed that means that an entirely dry system of semiconductor manufacture is feasible. Many of the devices he has fabricated in the lab were completely dry processed at yields comparable "co or better than wet processing. The implications of the research breakthrough are 'enormous', says Hughes.

EXORciser, EXORciser IA, or EXORterm 200. MC6805 source code is entered through the terminal console and stored on disc. This program is then assembled, using the MC6805 cross macro assembler and linking loader on disc with the MEX6805SIM module. Resulting MC6805 object code is loaded into the EXORciser/EXORterm memory. Any EXORcisercompatible memory and I/O boards may also be used with the MEX6805SIM to simulate other portions of the customer's MC6805 microcomputer system. 'When applied to all products across-the-board', he said, 'one could have a significant cost advantage, as well as the almost complete elimination of the current environmental considerations created by wet processing and wet developing'.

• . . but S i e m e n s stick w i t h Intel Siemens have extended their existing technology agreement with Intel to include 16-bit devices. Under the agreement Siemens will second source Intel's 8086 family. In addition, Siemens will offer all hardware and software development aids necessary to support the device. The.agreement calls for Siemens to receive technical packages from Intel, including mask sets. Intel will receive equivalent packages on certain products to be developed by Siemens relating to the 8086 product family.
