H E 1973 Physiology-Genetics Symposium was an effort by all involved to bring together some of the more recent developments in the areas of cellular physiology and endocrinology in relation to genetics. The purpose was to not only be informative but also it was hoped to stimulate new research endeavours in these areas. The first paper by Drs. Brown and Nestor includes recent results obtained by the authors and a discussion of the importance of these findings to the poultry industry. The authors also discuss possible areas of fruitful research in the area of stress physiology, particularly in relation to disease resistance. Dr. Grander gives a very good review of

the literature in the area of mitochondrial heterosis. He points out the lack of work being done in this area with poultry and suggests some challenging areas for research. The presentation made by Dr. Wentworth and authored by Wentworth, Wineland, Mashaly, Proudman, Zimmerman and Burke consisted of a review of the current status and importance of radioimmunoassays in poultry research. The material presented covered the assay of both protein and steroid hormones. It consisted largely of original research which the authors are publishing separately in a number of scientific articles. Interested persons should contact the authors for further details.

We would like to thank the participants most sincerely for making the Symposium possible and the Editor for making arrangements to publish the manuscripts.
