380 ISA was obtained by comparisons with ELISA and IFA for 66 field samples. IFA detected antibodies in 25 of the samples, while CELISA and ELISA identified 31 as positives. A closer analysis revealed possibility of false-positives in the ELISA: serum from one horse was apparently falsepositive by CELISA. Although ELISA and CELISA were equally efficient, marked disparity in distinctions between positive and negative samples made CELISA highly efficient. High sensitivity and specificity, coupled with simplicity, make this test versatile and amenable to be used as a stall-side test. This assay can be used for efficient diagnosis, pre-season screening, and monitoring the antibody levels following vaccination.
