At the International Conference (Symposium) of large city libraries held in 1966 in Prague, the City Library of Prague was appointed to take responsibility for the documentation of European large city public libraries. At the first Annual Meeting of INTAMEL held at Liverpool in March 1968 this assignment was extended to cover large city libraries throughout the world. The national centres to be established in each country should collect all the data concerning large city libraries in their country. The Prague Documentation Centre is to be based on the work of the national centres. These are expected to forward to the Prague Centre : (1) Abstracts of articles published in their country referring to the problems of large city libraries together with the original article or a photo-copy. Abstracts should be in one of the world languages (English, French, German, Russian). (2) Documents and publications issued by the large city libraries in their country, e.g. statistical reports, plans of their activities, bibliographies, publications on their libraries, prospectuses, photographs of their libraries, designs of library buildings, occasional material, etc. The Prague Documentation Centre will publish a periodical information bulletin. This will list the material received during a year, halfyear, or a longer period. The Documentation Centre will supply, on request, bibliographies on any subject covered by the material received. t Librarian,
