20th Annual Dr. Charles T. Dotter lecture The Annual Dr. Charles T. Dotter Lecture was established in 1984 to honor one of the founding fathers of interventional radiology. To date, 19 respected intelventionalists have been chosen to deliver this special lecture during the SIR Annual SCientific Meeting. They have been selected for their extraordinary contributions to the field, dedicated service to the Society, and distinguished career achievements in intelventional radiology.
Anne C. Roberts, MD
Beyond being a leader in the Society ofInterventional Radiology, Anne C. Roberts, MD, is a leader in the specialty. Dr. Roberts has left an impressive mark on interventional radiology that not only helped the profession, but patient care as well. Through lectures, publications, committee work and national involvement, Roberts' contributions have helped secure interventional radiology as 21st century medicine. Since joining SIR in 1988 after finishing her fellowship, Dr. Roberts has impacted evely Council as an active committee member and helped shape the Society as a whole through her vision as President in 1996. Her vision has always been for interventional radiologists to offer outstanding patient care that is cost-effective, minimally invasive and safe. But, she insists that, "Sound patient

care choices must be backed up by good basic science, as well as clinical and outcomes based research." To ensure this, Dr. Roberts has been active in SIR's Standards of Practice Committee and in ORREF, the Society's research arm, on their Board of Directors and as a lead investigator in the UAE FIBROID registry. A major involvement has been working with the FDA as a member of the SIR-FDA corrunittee. This committee has worked hard to promote a good working relationship between the FDA and interventional radiology and interventional neuroradiology. Dr. Roberts is currently Executive Vice Chair for the Department o f Radiology at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. She is also active in RSNA, ACR, American Board of Radiology, and the American Heart Association.
