Ospedale Galliera, Genova, since June 2002, and Chief of Specialized Surgery since January 2006 Doctor Maffezzini has developed his clinical background with a special focus on Urologic Oncology. This feature is also prominent in his surgical records in which also his activity as tutor for younger colleagues is well documented. Dr. Maffezzini attended to several national and international meetings, was winner of national awards, is an author of chapters of books and of eighty scientific papers published in peer-reviewed international journals.
Dr. Overcash has authored over 35 peer reviewed journal articles in the area of geriatric assessment. A book entitled, The Older Cancer Patient: A Guide for Nurses and Related Professionals by Janine Overcash and Lodovico Balducci highlights principles of care of the older person with cancer and received book of the year award by the American Journal of Nursing. Dr. Overcash has completed a postdoctorate with the John A. Hartford Building Academic Geriatric Nursing Capacity Program. Dr. Overcash participated in the Geriatric Nurse Educational Consortium sponsored by the American Academy of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) and the John A. Hartford Foundation which instructed over 500 faculty from all over the United States. Dr. Overcash is currently interested in maintaining functional status of older women undergoing chemotherapy. Arash Naeim UCLA Department of Medicine, Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, Los Angeles, CA, USA Arash Naeim, M.D., Ph.D., dually trained in Geriatrics and HematologyOncology whose career has spanned a combination of health services, informatics and policy and care issues. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Medicine in the divisions of Hematology-Oncology and Geriatric Medicine at the David Geffen UCLA School of Medicine. He is also the Director of both the Geriatric-Oncology Research and Training Program and the Hematology–Oncology Fellowship Program at UCLA. He is also Director of Informatics for the Jonsson Cancer Center, Physician Lead for the Epic Oncology Team, as well as an Assistant Vice Chancellor of Research for Research Informatics for the UCLA Campus. He chairs the Ronald Reagan Hospital Cancer Committee as well as serving Director of Quality for the UCLA Division of Hematology–Oncology Naeim earned a Ph.D. in Public Policy from the RAND Corporation. His primary research focus is on breast cancer in the elderly, and other research interests include outcomes research, cost-effectiveness analysis, modeling of health and frailty, and clinical trial design for older cancer patients. In 2009, Naeim was selected as the UCLA Principal Investigator for the Athena Breast Health Network. In this capacity he successfully assembled a team of faculty and staff that have planned and started to implement an innovative quality improvement and registry project that has enrolled over 15,000 women and collected over 5000 bio-specimens. Naeim has received numerous honors for his research, including an American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Young Investigator Award, an NIH Mentored Research Award, California Breast Cancer Research Foundation Award, and UC MRPI Award. Janine Overcash Nursing Research, James Cancer Center and Solove Research Institute, Colombus, OH, USA Janine Overcash, PhD is currently the Director of Nursing Research at the James Cancer Center and Solove Research Institute. Dr. Overcash was an Associate Professor of Nursing at the University of South Florida and a geriatric nurse practitioner specialized in the care of the older cancer patient. She has assisted in the design and management of one of the first geriatric oncology programs located at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in Tampa, Florida.
Sylvie Perrin Geriatric Oncology Program, Department of Medical Oncology, Centre Leon Berard, France Sylvie Perrin is a nurse since 1981, working in oncology, 17 years of day and 10 years of night in several units. In 2007 she joined one of the Pilot Units of Coordination in Geriatric Oncology (in Lyon) funded by the French National Cancer Institute. Grant program 1: To set up local collaborations between geriatrics and oncology teams, to create appropriate training and to develop clinical research programs In 2011 she obtained a university diploma in social gerontology and was recognized “Expert Nurse of Geriatric Oncology” by her institution. From 2011 to 2012 she has been working in one of the Units of Coordination in Geriatric Oncology, expansion step: grant program 2 — to spread out appropriate geriatric oncology patterns of care on the entire French territory, to increase the availability of training programs, to improve the awareness of the general population, and to promote older patients' participation in clinical research programs. Sylvie Perrin aims to manage and coordinate every nursing aspects of the geriatric oncology program. She has a multifaceted role: clinical role, education and support, training and information, nursing clinical research. She is a SOFOG and SIOG member.

Paula Ravasco Laboratory of Nutrition and Unit of Nutrition and Metabolism, Institute of Molecular Medicine, Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, Portugal In 2012 Paula Ravasco, RD, MD, PhD gained her Medical Degree. Previously, she gained a Degree in Basic Sciences in Medicine (2008); a PhD in Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism in the area of Cancer, at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (with honors) (2007); a Degree in Nutritional Sciences (2010); and a Degree in Nutrition and Food Engineering (2000). Paula Ravasco is currently Full Professor at the Laboratory of Nutrition of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon and Principal Investigator at the Unit of Nutrition and Metabolism of the Institute of Molecular Medicine. Other activities are: Coordinator of MsC in Clinical Nutrition since 2008; Supervisor of 15 MsC theses and of 3 PhD theses; Reviewer of 25 scientific International journals; Member of the DELPHI Group, an international panel of 17 experts on cancer cachexia. Professor Ravasco is author of 13 book chapters; author/co-author of 72 original scientific articles published in journals with peer-review;

Malcolm Reed Department of Oncology, University of Sheffield, Sheffield, UK Malcolm Reed is a Professor of Surgical Oncology and Head of Department of Oncology at the University of Sheffield UK. His clinical practice is in surgery for Breast Cancer and Soft Tissue Sarcoma. His research interests relate to the role of surgery in older women with breast cancer and shared decision making in breast cancer surgery. Alistair Ring Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Oncology, Brighton and Sussex Medical School Dr. Ring MA MRCP MD is a senior lecturer and honorary consultant in medical oncology at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. His oncology training was based at the Royal Marsden, St George's and Guy's Hospitals, London. This period included a two-year laboratory research fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital. Since February 2008 Dr. Ring has been developing a research programme for cancer care in the elderly at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. To date this programme has recruited over 1000 patients to research studies addressing fitness for treatment, biological markers of ageing, nutrition, communication, epidemiology and treatment preferences in older people with cancer. He is a member of the National Cancer Research Institute Breast Clinical Studies Group, and sits on the European Organisation for the Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Task Force for Cancer in the Elderly. He works closely with his acute medical colleagues delivering holistic care to this patient group who present several diagnostic and therapeutic challenges along with the frequent need for ethical considerations. He has been involved with research projects with the Helicopter Emergency Services (HEMS) at the Royal London Hospital, Sleep and Acute Medicine Clinics in Kings College and St. Thomas' Hospitals and in information design for people with dementia. He is a member of the steering group at the Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK, for the PLAN — Psychiatric Liaison Accreditation Network.

Liv Sørbye Diakonhjemmet University College, Oslo, Norway Dr. Sørbye is a professor at the Diakonhjemmet University College, Oslo, Norway, where she has focused on health services research for older people. Since 1980, she has produced reports and research articles in the area of death and dying, ethical questions, and care of the elderly using on both quantitative and quality approaches. Dr. Sørbye has served several terms as a member of the Cancer Society Care Council. She has also been a member of different departmental committee working on official documents; the most recent is Norwegian national guidelines on preventing and treatment of malnutrition (2009). Professor Sørbye is a member of Regional Committees for Medical and Health Research Ethics (REK) in Oslo and serves as a member of the editor board on three scientific journals. Since 2002 she has been a fellow in interRAI and she has participated in SIOGs work task concerning comprehensive assessment tools. Dr. Sørbye was the project leader of the Norwegian part of the Ad Hoc project on home care, and built her doctoral thesis on data from eleven different European sites: Frail homebound elderly — basic nursing challenges of home care.
