METHOD FOR RAPID ACQUISITION OF NMR DATA Felix W Wehrli Company
assigned
to General
Electric
A method for rapid acquisition of NMR data utilizes excitation pulses which rotate the longitudinal magnetization through an angle smaller than 90 degrees to create a relatively large transverse magnetization component. A first 180 degrees RF pulse is then applied to create a spin-echo signal, while a second 180 degrees RF pulse is used to rapidly return to equilibrium the residual longitudinal magnetization inverted by the first pulse. The combination of the excitation and the second 180 degrees pulses permits the sequence repetition time to be shortened, thereby reducing the total data collection time. The method is applicable to, for exthree-dimensional twoand ample, of Fourier transform and embodiments multiple-angle projection reconstruction NMR imaging methods.
4944501 EXAMINATION BED FOR NMR OR TOMODENSITOMETRY APPARATUS Jacque Sireul, Rene Gauthier, Wissous, assigned to General Electric CGR SA
4945308 VOLUME SELECTED SPECTROSCOPY
NMR
David M Doddrell, William M Brooks, Westlake, Australia assigned to University of Queensland A method for volume-selected NMR spectroscopy where an rf pulse of selected bandwidth, in the presence of a field gradient superimposed upon an initial homogenous magnetic field, rotates a slice of magnetization into the transverse plane, and it then uses a high power refocussing pulse to refocus the phase roll that accompanies the rf pulse. After an appropriate time, the magnetization is pulsed back to the homogenous magnetic field axis and the gradient collapsed. A read pulse is used to tip the magnetization of interest into the transverse plane for aequisition in the absence of applied gradients.
