Symposium
The Nordic Chapter is holding its second two-day symposium on 26-27 May 1997 at the Technical University (DTU) in Copenhagen, Denmark. There are two full days of presentations, with a limited-numbers visit to the Faxe Brewery and the Union Filtration facilities on the 28th. Some 19 papers are being presented during the symposium, with technical sessions on filtration and separation in the brewing industry, membrane filtration, and the pulp and paper industry. The authors come from companies such as Latham Engineering Services, Union Filtration, domnick hunter, APV-Anhydro, lndustri Textil Job, Parker Hannifin, Larox and Raisio Flootek, and from Oulu, Chalmers, Lappeenranta and the Danish Technical universities, as well as from the VTT research centre. The Society is holding its next three-day International Conference, Filtech Europa 97, at the new Congress Centre Dusseldorf. This biannual meeting will next take place on 14-16 October 1997, with Dr Albert Rushton as its Chairman. The theme of the meeting will be ‘Filtration Technology Today’. An international gathering of authors will present papers on a wide range of topics within the fields of solid/liquid separation and dust, gas and air filtration, before an audience from all over Europe, and beyond. The 2nd International Symposium on Filtration and Separation will be held 19-20 February 1998, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. it is being organised by the Asociacion lberica de Filtration y Separacibn. The purpose of the meeting is to bring together industrial and academic workers, to discuss the diverse problems and recent developments in the field of filtration and separation. The meeting will be an excellent opportunity for the exchange of knowledge, experience, views and forecasts for these processes. The official languages will be Spanish and English. Main topics include ventilation and air conditioning, industrial gas cleaning, electrostatic precipitators, scrubbers, bag filters, water purification, deep bed filters, vacuum filtration, cartridge filtration, magnetic separation, centrifuges, decanters, cyclones, ultra- and microfiltration, membranes, media, biotechnology, affinity chromatography and bioseparation techniques. Abstracts should be submitted by 31 May 1997, with decisions notified by 1 July, and full manuscripts required by 30 October. The Japan Association is organising a Filtration and Separation Exhibition and Symposium as part of the lnchem Tokyo 97 meeting, taking place 19-20 November in Tokyo (Inchem runs 18-21 November).
