Healthcare Products 4381346 ISOLATION OF PLASMINOGEN ACTIVATORS USEFUL AS THERAPEUTIC AND DIAGNOSTIC AGENTS Syed S. Huasin, Boguslaw Lipinski, Victor Gurewich The existence of high fibrin-affinity urokinase is discovered by an isolation procedure using fibrin precipitated on an adsorptive-solid matrix. By the method described, the high affinity form of plasminogen activator can be isolated directly from urine or from kidney tissue culture medium. The method is economical and provides a relatively high yield of the activator. The high affinity that this plasminogen activator has for fibrin is a property that makes it an improved thrombolytic agent and when radiolabeled provides a new diagnostic agent for the specific detection of fibrin thrombi through nuclear scanning. The newly-isolated plasminogen activator has the following characteristics: a molecular weight of about 56,000 Daltons, a specific activity of about 40,000~50,000 CTA units/mg, the appearance of a single chain structure and a high affinity for fibrin. 4381343 DETERMINATION OF ANTIBACTERIAL AGENTS Natha Citri, Jerusalem, Israel, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd, Yissum Research Development The presence of beta-lactam antibiotics in test material such as food. infusions, vaccines, blood tBr transfusion, body fluids, etc. may be determided by: seeding a nutrient medium with a beta-lactamase generatinlz

bacterium or spores thereof: applying a sample of said test material to a site on the so-called nutrient medium: then incubating the medium under conditions inducive to the generation of beta-lactamase by said bacteria: and assaying the beta-lactamase thus produced. 4381295 MONOCLONAL ANTIBODY TO HUMAN HELPER T CELLS AND METHODS OF PREPARING SAME Patrick C. Kung, Gideon Goldstein, assigned to Ortho Pharmaceutical Corporation Hybrid cell line for production of monoclonal antibody to an antigen found on all normal human helper T cells. The hybrid is formed by fusing splenocytes from immunized CAFI mice with P3X63AgSUI myeloma cells. Diagnostic and therapeutic uses of the monoclonal antibody are also disclosed. 4381292 ANTI-HUMAN T-LYMPHOCYTE MONOCLONAL ANTIBODY Charles P. Bieber. Frank Howard, assigned to The Board of Trustees of the keland Stanford Jr University Mammalian monoclonal antibodies specific for an antigen diagnostic for thymocytes, normal peripheral T cells and some null cells. The antibodies which distinguish among subpopulations of T cells, find use in assays, cell sorting, and immunosupression. 4381239 METHOD FOR REDUCING THE PYROGEN CONTENT OF OR REMOVING PYROGENS FROM SUBSTANCES CONTAMINATED THEREWITH
