The waste is slowly heated while an inert gas is being introduced in a vacuum for fractionating extraction of the products of the decomposition of the plastic. The waste gases must pass through an afterburner chamber incorporating a specially shaped burner where the plastic vapors are fully cornbusted. The waste gases are conducted from the afterburner chamber through a cooling trap and then through a cold trap in which the mercury is condensed and can be drained off. The final stage of the process is carried out in a pulsating vacuum by the inert gas. The device in which the process takes place consists of a heated heat isolated treatment chamber (2), an afterburner chamber (6), a cooling trap (7), a cold trap (18) and a vacuum pump (23, 24) connected with pipelines (5, 12, 21). The system also includes a control unit (14) for regulating the operation of the vacuum pump (23, 24) and the settings of a shut-off valve (16) and a regulation valve (15) for the inert gas. The plastic vapors are cornbusted in the afterburner chamber (6) by being heated in a flame basket produced with the aid of a concave flame cup (36) made of heat-resistant material.

The coarse and fine particles of solid waste material are separated from the fluid received from the bowl by filter material in the cassette. The solid material is stored in the cassette in a compact manner for subsequent disposal upon removal of the cassette from the housing. A pump and interconnected conduits in the housing transport fluid from the interior of the system to fill the bowl after a flush, to transport filtered fluid from the filter cassette to a position for recirculation, and to transport excess fluid from the interior of the housing to the exterior thereof. The recirculated fluid is sanitized and deodorized in the housing. Controls are provided to pass the fluid through the system to facilitate the collection and disposal of sewage waste within the system in a predetermined sequence.

A stream of water born combustible waste is delivered into a deep well, sufficiently deep to obtain a pressure and temperature in a bottom located reaction chamber at which the water becomes supercritical, there being a pipe for delivering oxygen under pressure for cornbusting oxygen dissolved in the supercritical water with the waste materials. The reaction is exothermic to sustain itself. It is started preferably by electric current flow to initially raise the temperature in the reaction chamber. The preferred structure is a cased abandoned well having a surrounding cement bond to the formation thereby retarding heat lose into the formation, the bottom located reaction chamber sustaining supercritical conditions.
