4558022 REGENERATION OF CAUSTIC IMPREGNATED ACTIVATED CARBONS John J Farmerie Corporation

assigned to Calgon Carbon

An improved process for the regeneration of activated carbon impregnated with caustic is described. A three stage wash with caustic solutions of from 30 to 50 percent and from 5 to 25 percent removes both organic and sulfur contaminants. This regeneration returns the carbon essentially to its original capacity for adsorption of malodorous compounds.

4565649 GRAPHITE INTERCALATION COMPOUNDS F Lincoln Vogel assigned to Intercal Company An electrically conductive composition is disclosed which comprises a graphite intercalation compound of graphite, a Bronsted acid such as hydrogen fluoride, chloride, or bromide, nitric, nitrous, sulfuric or perchloric acid, and a metal halide selected from boron trihalide, a pentahalide of a metal from Group V of the Periodic Table, a tetrahalide of a metal from Group IV of the Periodic Table and mixtures thereof.

4565684 REGULATION OF PYROLYSIS METHANE CONCENTRATION IN THE MANUFACTURE OF GRAPHITE FIBERS Gary G Tibbetts, Michael G Devour assigned to Genera1 Motors Corporation

In a preferred embodiment, graphite fibers are grown on a suitably nucleated ceramic surface by passing a methane gas stream over the surface at an elevated temperature. Initially, the methane concentration in the gas stream is adjusted to between 5 and 15 volume percent to form microfilaments. Thereafter, the scopic carbon methane concentration is increased to above 25 volume percent to thicken the filaments into fibers.

4565727 NON-WOVEN ACTIVATED CARBON FABRIC Robert D Giglia, Edward Battistelli assigned to American Cyanamid Co An air and water vapor permeable, toxic vapor absorptive non-woven fabric material comprising a web-laid sheet containing fibrillated acrylic fiber, and an activated carbon constituent selected from the group consisting of activated carbon fiber, activated carbon particles, and mixtures of activated carbon fiber and activated carbon particles.

4567094 HIGH CONDUCTIVITY GRAPHITE MATERIAL AND METHOD OF WEAVING Jordan Levin assigned to Fiberite Corporation A method of forming an electrically conductive weavable multifilament graphite element which comprises wrapping around a multifilament graphite element at least one electrically conductive filament.
