4585797 4585780 PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS Robert Hider, George Kontoghiorghes, Jack Silver, Clacton, United Kingdom assigned to National Research Development Corp Pharmaceutical compositions containing a 3hydroxypyrid-2-one or 3-hydroxypyrid-4-one in which the hydrogen atom attached to the nitrogen atom is replaced by an aliphatic acyl group, by an aliphatic hydrocarbon group, or by an aliphatic hydrocarbon group substituted by one or, except in the case of ionizable groups, more than one substituent selected from aliphatic acyl, alkoxy, aliphatic amine, aliphatic amide, carboxy, aliphatic ester, halogen, hydroxy and sulpho groups and, optionally, in which one or more of the hydrogen atoms attached to ring carbon atoms are replaced by one of said substituents, by an aliphatic hydrocarbon group, or by an aliphatic hydrocarbon group substituted by an alkoxy, aliphatic ester, halogen or hydroxy group, but excluding compounds in which said replacement of hydrogen atoms in the compound is effected only by aliphatic hydrocarbon groups, or a salt thereof containing a physiologically acceptable ion or ions, are of value for removing toxic amounts of metals, particularly iron, from the body.

COSMETIC AND PHARMACEUTICAL SHEET MATERIAL CONTAINING POLYPEPTIDES Gheorghe Cioca assigned to Seton Company A flexible continuous film is comprised of a physical admixture of a polypeptide, a plasticizer and a film-forming flexible polymer. When the film is moistened, the polypeptides exude therefrom.
4586622 TAMPER-RESISTANT PHARMACEUTICAL VIAL AND CAP ASSEMBLY Diann Walldorf assigned to Affiliated Hospital Products Inc A cap or closure for a pharmaceutical vial includes a fill hole to permit filling of the vial with the cap in place. In one form the vial and cap assembly comprises an open-top vial covered by a cap having a depending peripheral skirt. The inner surface of the cap skirt and the outer surface of the vial are provided with complementary mating interlock elements that preclude manual removal of the cap. The cap includes an integral tear member, defined by one or more weakened, partially circumferential weakened junction lines, such that pulling away the tear member along the junction line allows both manual removal of the cap and ready visual confirmation that vial integrity has been breached. The cap includes a fill hole permitting the filling of the vial with the cap in place. The fill hole is closed, after filling, by a resilient stopper having a configuration effectively precluding its manual removal, so that post-filling tampering and contamination are precluded. The stopper is preferably molded together with the cap and may be connected to the cap by an integral strap.
