PATENT ABSTRACTS

4678746 MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES TO EPIZOOTIC HEMORRHAGIC DISEASE VIRUS ANTIGEN Michael Jochim, Suzanne Jones assigned to The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of Agriculture A method for preparing hybrid cell lins (hybridomas) which secrete monoclonal antibody which is group-specific to epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus antigen and which does not react to antigenically-related bluetongue virus antigen is disclosed. The antibody identifies EHDV in infected cell cultures with immunofluorescence and provides a means for ready diagnosis of EHDV in animals.

4680176 DELETION MUTANT OF A HERPESVIRUS AND VACCINE CONTAINING SAID VIRUS Antonius J Berns, Arnold L Gielkens, Grave, Netherlands assigned to Centraal Diergeneeskundig Instituut The invention relates to live deletion mutants of a herpesvirus, especially of Pseudorabies virus. The genomes of the mutants differ from the genomes of the parent strain by the presence of one or more deletions selected from a deletion in the inverted repeats, a deletion in the unique sequence, and a deletion in the thymidine kinase gene. The new deletion mutants are avirulent, do not induce latent infections, are stable and possess good immunogenic properties. The invention also relates to vaccines containing the new mutant strains.

4680258 PROCESS FOR SEX D E T E R M I N A T I O N I N M A N BY USE OF MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES TO THE H-Y ANTIGEN Ulrich Hammerling, Gloria C Koo, Nobuhiko Tada assigned to Sloan-Kettering Institute for Cancer Research Production of anti-H-Y hybridoma cell lines, and the use of the antibodies to determine the

presence of H-Y antigen to indicate the sex of the proband inclusive of fetus, newborn and adult humans.

4680260 METHOD FOR PRODUCING HUMAN LEUKOCYTE INTERFERON ALPHA-2 Vladimir G Debabov, Jury Tsygankov, Andrei J Chistoserdov. Evgeny Sverdlov, Lara S Izotova, Sergei Kostrov, Viktor Sterkin, Vladimir P Kuznetsov, Sergei Belyaev, Galina S Monastyrskaya, Irina Salomatina, Grigory Dolganov. Sergei Arsenian, Sergei A Tsarev, Jury Kozlov, Alexandr Y Strongin, Vsevolod I Ogarkov, Jury A Ovchinnikov, Moscow, Union Of Soviet Socialist Republics assigned to Vsesojuzny Nauchno-lssledovatelsky Institut Genetiki A method for producing human leukocyte interferon alpha-2 resides in that there is carried out submerged cultivation of a producer strain Pseudomonas species VG-84 carrying a plasmid pVG3 with an inserted gene of human leukocyte interferon alpha-2, said strain being deposited in the collection of microorganism cultures at the USSR Antibiotics Research Institute under Reg. No. 1742; said strain being cultivated in a nutrient medium, containing the sources of carbon and nitrogen, mineral salts and growth stimulants, under aeration in the presence of antibiotics, i.e., streptomycin or tetracycline, or a mixture of both, followed by isolation and purification of the end product.

4681782 ARTICLE FOR DETERMINING THE PRESENCE OF IMMUNE COMPLEXES Adil Ozkan assigned to Biostar Medical Products Inc An immunoassay of a specimen of a serum or the like to determine the composition of immune complexes, includes producing on a plastic base a layer of a non-proteinaceous, non-ionic polymer which will adhere to the plastic base and has the capability of adsorbing immune complexes of the specimen, placing a specimen on the layer and treating the layer to produce an indication of the composition of the immune complexes. The polymer may be polyethylene glycol, dextran, polyvinyl chloride, a polymeric polyol or an
