analog output. A plurality of synthesizer modules interconnected by an interchannel communications bus which allows each synthesizer to signal every other synthesizer whereby the operations of the synthesizers can be synchronized.
4709211 NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE SYSTEM Yoshio Machida, Takao Kasugai, Nishi Nasunomachi, Japan assigned to Kabushiki Kaisha Toshiba A Fourier transformation imaging technique is used for NMR imaging. Spins in a selected plane are excited by selective RF pulses and an associated Gz gradient and the selected spins are subjected to three mutually orthogonal gradients which provide the resonance signal with spatial resolution along each axis produced by phase encoding. The signals sampled and read out in the presence of a readout gradient are associated with spatial frequencies determined by the applied gradient fields. The Fourier transformation of the spin-echo signals obtained from repetition of the pulse sequences gives a twodimensional image. The linear phase-encoding gradient is applied starting with a preliminary phase-encoding gradient which maximizes the spin-echo signals.
4710714 METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MEASURING NUCLEAR MAGNETIC PROPERTIES Daniel P Weitekamp, Anthony Bielecki, David B Zax, Kurt W Zilm, Alexander Pines assigned to The Regents of the University of California; Weitekamp Daniel Paul A method for studying the chemical and structural characteristics of materials is disclosed. The method includes placement of a sample material in a high strength polarizing magnetic field to order the sample nucleii. The condition used to order the sample is then removed abruptly and the ordering of the sample allowed to evolve for a time interval. At the end of the time interval, the ordering of the sample is measured by conventional nuclear magnetic resonance techniques.

4709212 METHOD OF ENHANCING IMAGE SIGNAL-TO-NOISE RATIO BY COMBINING NMR IMAGES OF DIFFERING PULSE SEQUENCE TIMING James R MacFall, Gary Glover General Electric Company
the calculated T2 images are used to extrapolate (by multiplying each pixel by an appropriate factor) each of the acquired images to some spinecho time TEc. The extrapolated image can now be averaged to produce an image with improved SNR. In yet another embodiment, similar techniques are used to improve the SNR of images acquired by varying parameters, such as pulse sequence repetition time TR, which effect the spin-lattice (TI) dependence of the image.

A method is provided for enhancing image signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) by combining NMR acquired images of differing pulse sequence timing. In one embodiment, a plurality of multiecho images acquired at different spin-echo times are used to compute values of spin-spin relaxation (T2) and pseudospin density (PD) for each pixel in the multi-echo images. These values are used to generate new images at a spin-echo time TEc for which actual measurements may not have been taken. In another embodiment,
SLICE ORIENTATION SELECTION ARRANGEMENT Hanan Keren, David Freundlich, Kfar Saba, Israel assigned to Elscint Ltd A slice orientation selection arrangement for magnetic resonance imaging in planes oblique to the normal Cartesian coordinates. The coordinates are rotated to applying gradient signals using Euler computations.
