tions, a region of homogeneous magnetic field is formed. This region is centered on the common axis of the two coils, at a point on the axis which is at a distance from the small coil equal to onehalf the radius of the small coil, and which is on the opposite side of the small coil from the large coil. The apparatus has particular application in the field of diagnostic medical NMR and other NMR applications.

4721915 HIGH FREQUENCY ANTENNA SYSTEM FOR NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE TOMOGRAPHY DEVICES Joachi Kestler, Pretzfeld, Federal Germany assigned to Siemens Ischaft

Republic Of Aktiengesel-

A high frequency antenna system for nuclear magnetic resonance tomography devices generates a substantially uniform magnetic high frequency field and receives high frequency signals, and includes two conductor members supplied with current of opposite polarity, the conductor members being of a selected length and extending along an imaginary cylinder parallel to the direction of the cylinder axis. Electrodes are provided at the end regions of the conductor members, the electrodes maintaining the electrical field generated at the ends of the currentsupplied conductor members away from the examination chamber, and limiting the magnetic high-frequency field generated by the currentsupplied conductor members substantially to the examination chamber between the electrodes.

Com-

pany A cryostat comprising an outer closed cylindrical vacuum vessel and a helium vessel is situated inside the vacuum vessel. The helium vessel has on its outside surface four radially extending trunnions situated on a horizontal plane passing through the center of the helium vessel. The trunnions are symmetrically spaced on either side of the helium vessel, about the helium vessel’s axial midplane. Four straps have one end of each of the strap looping about a respective one of the four trunnions. The other end of each of the straps is rotatably secured to the circular end faces of the vacuum vessel, with the two straps from the trunnions closest to an end face secured to that end face.

Com-

The composition comprises a cationic free, functional emulsion polymer mixture adapted to be coreacted with glycoluril. The process comprises copolymerizing ethylenically unsaturated monomers, including functional monomers but excluding amine monomers, in an aqueous polymerization medium. The resulting polymers are useful in surface coating application generally as well as specifically for wood substrates.
