nuclear spins in the body including but not limited to the slab. Moving material is again allowed to flow from the slab, and a fourth 90 degrees rf pulse is then applied to the body at a frequency band and of sufficient strength to flip nuclear spins in the slab. Second image data in an X-Z plane is obtained from nuclear spins flipped by the fourth 90 degrees rf pulse. The first image data is subtracted from the second image data to obtain third image data of moving material through the slab. Alternatively, the first image data and the second image data can be gated to different portions of a cardiac cycle whereby the flow of moving material differs in obtaining the first image data from the flow of moving material in obtaining the second image data. Direction sensitivity can be obtained by selective spatial excitation of portions of the body.
4837516 TUNING DEVICE FOR NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING APPARATUS AND NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING APPARATUS INCLUDING THE TUNING DEVICE Ryoichi Takahashi, Tochigi, Japan assigned to Kabushiki Kaisha Toshiba A tuning device for an NMR imaging apparatus capable of functioning responsively and accurately in the presence of a strong magnetic field. The device includes LC circuit formed by coils and tuners including variable capacitors, and ultrasonic motors which tunes the LC circuits to a resonant frequency by adjusting the variable capacitors. An NMR imaging apparatus including this tuning device is also disclosed.
4837749 ULTRASONIC IMAGING SYSTEM FOR OBTAINING ZOOM VIDEO IMAGES OF AN OBJECT Hirotaka Nakajima, Tochigi, Japan assigned to Kabushiki Kaisha Toshiba An ultrasonic imaging arrangement. The arrangement includes a probe having an array of oscillators for emitting ultrasonic waves toward an object to be tomographically imaged, a first
converter, a line memory group including a plurality of line memories, a write zoom operation unit, a frame memory, read zoom operation unit and a second converter. Echo signals reflected from the object are converted into digital signals as ultrasonic data. The ultrasonic data are stored in the line memory group, and are stored in the frame memory after processing operations in the write zoom operation unit. The read zoom operation unit then reads the data from the frame memory and, if necessary, processes that data. The second converter converts the processed data into video signals and a tomography image of the object is displayed according to the video signals.
4739468 NUMERICAL CONTROL DEVICE WITH DISPLAY CONTROL USING HIGH LEVEL LANGUAGE Akihik Fujimoto, Aichi, Japan assigned to Mitsubishi Denki Kabushiki Kaisha A numerical control device which is capable of using a general-purpose setting display section to display machining date for controlling a machine tool or the like. The machining data can be displayed in character or graphic form, and internal processing is carried out using a high level language. A transmitting and receiving unit is interfaced with the general-purpose setting display section using a standard serial data interface to transmit the display data using the high level language.
4739488 MACHINE TOOL WITH TOOL SELECTION AND WORK SEQUENCE DETERMINATION Koichi Asakura, Aichi, Japan assigned to Brother Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha A machine tool includes a plurality of storage means for storing preworking steps, tool information, and a working program for a large variety of working operations to be performed or workpieces of various shapes and materials. An operation control means determines from an operator the shape and material of a workpiece to be machined and then accesses the stored information to identify the tools necessary, the sequence of tool use, and the specific working operations to be performed to accomplish the desired machining.
