PATENT ABSTRACTS Enzymes are immobilized on macroporous hydrophilic polymer beads by adsorption. The polymer beads are cross-linked, acrylate-based resins containing pendant hydroxy groups. The resins contain 10-70% methyl methacrylate, 1070% methylacrylate, 5-14 40% ethylenically unsaturated monomer having at least one pendant hydroxyl group and 10-25% divinylbenzene. The resins provide immobilized enzyme preparations exhibiting excellent physical strength and stability as well as high enzyme activity.

stituted alkyl group, alkenyl group, aryl group or aralkyl group, X represents OR' or N R " R ' " , in which R', R" and R'" represent respectively hydrogen or substituted or not substituted alkyl group, alkenyl group, aryl group or aralkyl group. The enzyme inhibitor according to the present invention can effectively inhibit aldose reductase, glyoxalase I and reverse transcriptase.

4900423 ENZYME SENSOR USING IMMOBILIZED GLUCOKINASE

4897444 IMMOBILIZED FLUOROGENIC SUBSTRATES FOR ENZYMES; AND PROCESSES FOR THEIR PREPARATION Paul J Brynes, Patricia Andrade-Gordon assigned to The Research Foundation of the State University of New York An immobilized fluorogenic substrate useful in processes for identifying and quantifying, intraand extra-cellularly, and mammalian body fluids, as well as animal cell abstracts is disclosed. The immobilized fluorogenic substrate has the structure See Patent for Tabular Presentation PS wherein RI represents an enzymespecific oligopeptide; R2 represents a spacer group which is metbylenecarbonyloxy, a methylenecarboxamido, or a methylanesulfonamido group attached to a polymetbylene chain which itself has a functional group suitable for coupling with a polymer; R3 represents a biologically inert polymer; and R4 represents a fluorogenic moiety.

4898870 PYRROLOQUINOLINE QUINONE COMPOUNDS USEFUL AS AN ENZYME INHIBITOR Yuj Narutomi, Manabu Katsumata, Yasuko Osawa, Saburo Uchikuga, Kanagawa, Japan assigned to Sogo Pharmaceutical Company Limited The present invention concerns an enzyme inhibitor containing the compound represented by the following formula (I) as an effective ingredient: See Patentfor Chemical Structure (I) where R represents hydrogen or substituted or not sub-

Takeaki Iida, Takesh Kawabe, Niiza, Japan assigned to Unitika Ltd An enzyme sensor comprising an enzyme acting specifically on a substrate and a transducer for converting the quantitative change of a substance or heat which is produced or consumed during an enzyme reaction to an electrical signal, wherein the enzyme is glucokinase is disclosed. By the enzyme sensor of the present invention, an accurate determination of an amount of glucose in a sample is possible as well as an accurate determination of adenosine-Ytriphosphate (ATP). A response time of the sensor is almost constant after a long-term use and a decrease of the detecting ratio is very small.
