PATENT ABSTRACTS A monoclonal antibody specific to a sugar chain containing N-glycolylneuraminic acid and has an ability to bind at least to N-glycolyl GM2 ganglioside, and producing methods of a hybridomas which produce the monoclonal antibodies are disclosed. The antibodies are extremely useful for clarification of carcinogenesis mechanism, cancer diagnosis and therapy. The hybridomas are manufactured by using an animal with autoimmune disease.
4965203 PURIFIED THROMBIN PREPARATIONS Steven Silbering, Rowland P Blythe, Russell U Nesbitt, Mahdi Fawzi assigned to WarnerLambert Company Improved t h r o m b i n formulations, stable at room temperature using stabilizing quantities of a polyol and a buffer at specific pHs are described wherein crude thrombin is first purified by two-stage ion exchange chromatography.
4965204 HUMAN STEM CELLS AND MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES Curt Civin assigned to The Johns Hopkins University Monoclonal antibodies that recognize a stagespecific antigen on immature human marrow cells are provided. These antibodies are useful in methods of isolating cell suspensions from human blood and marrow that can be employed in bone marrow transplantation. Cell suspensions containing human pluripotent lymphohematopoietic stem cells are also provided, as well as therapeutic methods employing the cell suspensions.
4966843 EXPRESSION OF INTERFERON GENES IN CHINESE HAMSTER OVARY CELLS Francis P McCormick, Michael Innis, Gordon M Ringold assigned to Cetus Corporation
D N A constructs are prepared which operably link human interferon genes, selective, eukaryotic marker genes, and promoter and expression control sequences for the expression of human interferon in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells or progeny thereof. The human recombinant interferon so produced contains glycans which are a subset of the population of glycans which are contained in the native counterpart, and may be used in therapeutic formulations. The CHO cells yield high levels of human interferon with no detectable amounts of host IFN, either constitutive or inductive.
4966849 CDNA AND GENES FOR HUMAN ANGIOGENIN (ANGIOGENESIS FACTOR) AND METHODS OF EXPRESSION Bert L Vallee, Kotoku Kurachi assigned to President and Fellows of Harvard College DNA sequences encoding a protein having angiogenic activity and mutated DNA sequences encoding a protein having decreased angiogenic activity are disclosed. Expression vectors conmining these wild-type or mutated sequences are introduced into host cells and direct the production of wild-type or mutant angiogenic proteins. Proteins produced according to the invention are useful in the diagnosis of malignancies, for promoting wound healing, and for other diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Mutant proteins produced according to the invention are useful therapeutic compositions as angiogensis inhibitors, which may retard tumor growth by inhibiting the development of a hemovascular network.
4966888 HCG-HLH RECEPTOR AND HCG-HLH RECEPTOR-HCG COMPLEX AS ANTIGENS, ANTIBODIES THERETO AND CONTRACEPTIVE VACCINE Brij Saxena, Premil Rathnam, Mukul Singh assigned to Cornell Research Foundation Inc Purified hCG-hLH receptor, hCG-hLH receptor-hCG complex and combinations between their subunits as antigens, as well as antibodies thereto which are useful as a contraceptive vaccine.
