50 years of RP Reinforced Plastics is 50 this year. In the fast-moving world of trade publishing this is a big achievement. Launched in September 1956 by a small London-based publisher, the magazine was acquired by global media group Elsevier in 1989 and since then has grown in both content and readership to become the industry’s only truly global magazine, read and respected by composites suppliers and manufacturers all around the world. In the very first issue of Reinforced Plastics (do any of you still have that issue?) the objectives of the magazine were outlined as: ‘to find new applications for reinforced plastics by introducing the material to manufacturers and designers in many fields outside the plastics industry, and to publish information on moulding techniques, materials and equipment.’ This strategy has stood the test of time and our

mission today is essentially the same. We also monitor industry trends to develop new products and services, such as the RP Asia series of conferences and exhibitions, the new Chineselanguage magazine Reinforced Plastics China, and our digital magazine editions, which utilise the latest IT technology to deliver your magazine to you via the internet. Come and meet the current

Reinforced Plastics team at the JEC Composites Show this month on stand number P66.
