5098680 AQUEOUS AMMONIA INJECTION SCHEME William Fellows, Donald E Krider assigned to Exxon Research & Engineering Company An improved process for reducing nitrogen oxide emissions to the atmosphere comprises the injection of ammonia vapor, formed by the vaporization of an aqueous ammonia solution, into a combustion effluent. A dilute aqueous ammonia phase, produced by such vaporization, may also be injected, either in vapor or liquid form, into a combustion effluent. Temperature and pressure control of such vaporization may be used to maintain the desired concentration of ammonia injected into the combustion effluent.

allows a toilet user to selectively determine the quantity of water used for a toilet flush by controlling the time that a toilet flush handle (38) is held in the depressed position. The water quantity used depends on whether liquid or solid waste is to be flushed. For liquid waste, a partial flush is used; for solid waste a full flush is recommended. The valve (10) consists of a resilient body having a cavity (12) located over the toilet tank drain (34). The cavity houses a weight (16) that fulfills two functions: it provides the weight necessary to make the valve non-buoyant and it produces under the area of the weight, a flat rigid section (18) that extends radially over and beyond the perimeter of the valve seat (36). This rigid section provides a positive seal without sagging which can produce unnoticed leaks.

WASTE SHOT CONTROL FOR A DIE CASTING MACHINE

SMALL DIAMETER DUAL P U M P POLLUTANT RECOVERY SYSTEM

Hirosh Yokoyama, Kanagawa, Japan assigned to Toshiba Kikai Kabushiki Kaisha

James Warburton, John F Hurst A groundwater pollutant recovery system using the cone of depression approach, in which a sensing probe having liquid level sensors responsive to both water and pollutant levels and having attached to it the pollutant intake is deployed in a recovery well above the submerged water and pollutant pumps. The pollutant intake on the sensing probe is attached to the pollutant pump by an extendable hose so that the sensing probe may be raised and lowered in response to changing hydraulic conditions in the well, without the necessity of changing the water or pollutant pump positions. The recovery sequence is controlled by a microprocessor under the control of a program responsive to the liquid levels indicated by the sensors in the sensing probe.

5117514 IMPROVED TOILET-TANK FLAPPER VALVE

An arrangement for controlling a waste shot of a die casting machine. Data are entered and stored in a memory data defining waste shot mode and normal shot mode operations of the die casting machine. The machine is then operated in normal shot mode. By monitoring various parameters, it is determined whether the die casting machine is operating in accordance with the data defining normal shot mode operation. In the event that the die casting machine is not operating in accordance with the data defining normal shot mode operation, the machine is stopped. After stopping, the die casting machine is restarted and automatically operated in waste shot mode in accordance with data previously stored, and then automatically operated in normal shot mode in accordance with data previously stored.

5120161 APPARATUS FOR THE CONTROLLED DISPOSAL OF WASTE AND METHOD THEREFOR
