5188942 METHOD FOR DETERMINING BLUETONGUE VIRUS ANTIBODIES IN SERUM John J Reddington, Ginger M Reddington assigned to Consultants for Applied Biosciences Inc A rapid, competitive enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (cELISA) for the determination of Bluetongue virus antibodies in serum is described. This method utilizes either a biotinylated monoclonal antibody to Bluetongue virus and streptavadin-enzyme in conjunction with synthetic substrate, or an enzymeconjugated monoclonal to detect antibodies specific for Bluetongue virus.
mentioned monoclonal antibody or fragment of the antibody, wherein the monoclonal antibody is bonded to the surface of the solid carrier; a process for the purification of lymphotoxin comprising the steps of placing a material containing lymphotoxin in contact with the abovementioned adsorbent to adsorb the lymphotoxin to the adsorbent, and eluting the adsorbed lymphotoxin with an eluent; and an assay method or assay kit for lymphotoxin using the above-mentioned monoclonal antibody or fragment thereof.

5188969 MONOCLONAL ANTIBODY TO HUMAN LYMPHOTOXIN AND USE THEREOF Kazuhiko Arai, Akira Fujiwara, Shosaku Motoda, Hiroyasu Suzuki, Sagamihara, Japan assigned to Denki Kagaku Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha A monoclonal antibody reactive with a Cterminal half of human lymphotoxin, and fragments thereof; a hybridoma cell line producing a monoclonal antibody reactive with a C-terminal half of human lymphotoxin; a process for the production of a monoclonal antibody reactive with a C-terminal half of human lymphotoxin, comprising the steps of culturing the abovementioned hybridoma in a medium to secrete the antibody, and recovering the antibody from the culture supernatant; a process for the production of a monoclonal antibody reactive with a Cterminal half of human lymphotoxin, comprising the steps of inoculating a hybridoma to a mammal, obtaining ascites from the mammal, and recovering the monoelonal antibody from the aseites; a process for the production of a hybridoma cell line producing a monoclonal antibody reactive with a C-terminal half of human lymphotoxin, comprising the step of immunizing a mammal with a conjugate of zinc and a purified recombinant human lymphotoxin, obtaining spleen cells from the immunized mammal, fusing the spleen cells with myeloma cells, and cloning a hybridoma producing the monoclonal antibody; an adsorbent for lymphotoxin comprising a solid carrier and the above-
Libor H Nikl, Lawrence J Allbright, Port Coquitlam, Canada assigned to Taito Co Ltd A method to stimulate the immune system of fish that comprises administering to the fish a beta-l,3-glucan having a beta-l,3-1inked main chain with beta-l,6-1inked single glucose side chains. 5189147 METERODIMERIC T LYMPHOCYTE RECEPTOR ANTIBODY Haruo Saito, David M Kranz, Herman N Eisen, Susumu Tonegawa assigned to Massachusetts Institute of Technology Disclosed is a heterodimeric T lymphocyte receptor comprising an alpha and a beta subunit. Each subunit consists of a signal peptide, variable, joining, constant, transmembrane, and cytoplasmic regions. The two subunits are connected by a disulfide bond between cysteine residues located between the constant and transmembrane region. The structure, amino acid, and nucleotide sequence of the lymphocyte receptor were determined using eDNA cones derived from a functional murine cytotoxic T lymphocyte clone. The genes corresponding to these e D N A are expressed and rearranged specifically in T cells and have significant sequence homologies to immunoglobulin V and C genes. Both the T cell receptor protein and its subunits may be produced from the eDNA
