laundering clothing contaminated with asbestos fibers and/or with lead, herein called the contaminants. The method and means employed by this invention decontaminates the clothing in an environmentally contained, controlled and safe facility. The facility and the method described in association therewith permits contaminated clothing to be brought into the containment area, laundered and dried within the same contained, environmentally controlled, safe area. Clean clothing is then removed for further sorting, repairs, folding, counting and storing operations in another separated room of the facility. The facility and the method described in association therewith protect the health of the laundry operator and prevent the contaminants from being released into the atmosphere by the process itself. It also prevents contaminants from being carried from the interior of the facility by the person conducting the laundry operation. The method and means also prevent the release of the contaminants into the atmosphere at the time the contaminated clothing is delivered to the facility. The method and means also prevent the release of the contaminants by the laundered clothing themselves after they have been laundered. This is assured by the methods and means utilized to prevent recontaminating the clothing after it has been laundered. The method and means ensure the filtering of the laundry waste water to a level that is safe for its disposal through the sewer.

5329726 SYSTEM FOR TERMITE DETECTION AND CONTROL Thorne Barbara L; Traniello James F A system for termite detection and control is provided by a subterranean bait station having a perforated outer housing permanently implanted in the terrain below ground level, and a perforated cartridge removably received within the housing. The openings in the housing and the cartridge are in alignment with each other when the cartridge is fully received within the housing in its operational position. The cartridge received within the housing will initially contain a non-toxic bait material for diagnosing or assessing the level of a termite infestation; the bait cartridge is periodically removed from the housing to inspect for termite activity. If termite activity is detected, the nontoxic bait cartridge is replaced in the housing with a correspondingly perforated pesticide-containing bait cartridge for extermination of termites.

Removal, replacement and substitution of the nontoxic and pesticide containing cartridges does not disturb pre-existing termite foraging galleries as a result of the precise alignment of the openings of the housing and the removable, exchangeable cartridges. The system may also be used for aboveground termite detection and control by externally mounting an appropriately modified housing to an outer surface of any article to be monitored, such as a timber.

5329770 EXHAUST GAS TURBINE DRIVE SYSTEM FOR ENGINE ACCESSORIES Ward Michael S An exhaust gas drive system for engine accessories includes a turbine positioned in the exhaust system of the engine of a vehicle for rotation of the turbine by the pressure of the exhaust gas. The turbine is connected through a reduction transmission to a hydraulic pump which is fluidicalIy connected to respective hydraulic motors which drive the accessories. Communication of exhaust gas to the turbine is controlled by a waste gate. The flow of hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic motors is controlled by actuator valves which operate in an on/off manner or are adjustable for variable control of the accessories. A computer monitors engine speed and controls the position of the waste gate to thereby maintain a substantially constant speed of the turbine. Alternatively, a secondary output shaft of the reduction transmission has a drive pulley thereon for belt driving an accessory having a driven pulley on an input shaft thereof.

ANIMAL

LITTER

Pattengill Maurice G; Glynn Jerry D; Jones Martin A Western Aggregates Inc The invention provides a waterproof litter receptacle for use in disposal of animal waste products. The litter receptacle contains a mixture of non-smectitic, hydrophilic shale aggregate. The mixture of non-smectitic hydrophilic shale has a fraction of coarse material with a size less than
