provided. The composition possesses a DNA priming activity and a reverse transcriptase activity. The hepadnavirus polymerase gene product is produced by in vitro expression of a hepadnavirus pol gene. The enzymatically active composition of matter is used in rapid in vitro assays to screen potential anti-hepadnaviral agents. Assays for various functions of the hepadnavirus DNA polymerase are provided, including: (1) binding of the polymerase gene product to hepadnavirus pre-genomic RNA; (2) DNA priming activity of the polymerase gene product; and (3) reverse transcriptase activity of the polymerase gene product.
DNA SEQUENCING Middendorf Lyle R: Bruce Robert C; Eckles Robert - Li-Cor Inc To sequence DNA, DNA samples marked with fluorescent infrared dye are applied at a plurality of locations for electrophoresing in a plurality of channels through a gel electrophoresis slab. The channels are scanned with a laser and a sensor, that include a microscope focused on the gel slab. The focal point and slab are adjusted with respect to each other so that the focal point of the microscope remains on the gel slab during a scan. The data from the scan is directly used to amplitude modulate density readings on a display, and the scan is displayed in a horizontal sweep of a cathode ray tube, whereby said cathode ray tube provides intensity displays of bands representing DNA. Different sizes of glass gel sandwiches may be mounted to the same console for different sequencing tasks.

5360714
A method and reagents are provided for determining whether a human cell is a hemopoietic cell and whether a human tissue cell is in a neoplastic state. Human cells which express only leukocyte-plastin (1-plastin) are hemopoietic cells and human cells which express both 1-plastin and tissue-plastin (t-plastin) are neoplastic. 7he method can be performed using isoform-specific plastin nucleotide probes or isoform-specific antiplastin antibodies.
HEPADNAVIRUS POLYMERASE GENE PRODUCT HAVING RNADEPENDENT DNA PRIMING AND REVERSE TRANSCRIPTASE ACTIVITIES AND METHODS OF MEASURING THE ACTIVITIES THEREOF Seeger Christop, Melrose, PA, UNITED STATES - Fox Chase Cancer Center
5360725 METHOD OF PRODUCING RICE CYBRID CELLS
An enzymatically active composition of matter, comprising an extracellular combination of a substantially virus-free hepadnavirus polymerase gene product and an R N A template for hepadnavirus minus strand DNA synthesis, is
