PATENT ABSTRACTS

is expected to be particularly effective in the treatment of HIV infections.

5425946 VACCINES AGAINST GROUP C NEISSERIA MENINGITIDIS Tai Joseph; Hronowski Lucjan J J; Mates Sharon Fort Washington, PA, UNITED STATES Assigned to North American Vaccine Inc An immunogenic conjugate comprising a modified group C meningococcal polysaccharide (GCMP) coupled to a carrier molecule. The GCMP is modified by O-deacetylation to a varying extent. This modified GCMP conjugate stimulates a strong immunogenic response. The antiserum, produced by immunization with this conjugate, is cross-reactive with the native polysaccharide. In addition, these antisera elicit a class of antibodies that have patent bactericidal activity.

5425951 METHOD OF RECONSTITUTING LYOPHILIZED CELLS Goodrich Raymond P; Williams Christine M Pasadena, CA, UNITED STATES Assigned to Cryopharm Corporation A process and medium are disclosed for the lyophilization of cells which comprises the use of solutions including monosaccharide hexoses and pentoses, and/or biocompatible amphipathic polymers to permit the reconstitution of viable cells.

markers or a decrease in CD1 lb markers in CD8+ cells. The analysis is preferably performed using fluorochrome-labelled monoclonal antibodies specific for a determinant of the above subset cells and activation markers.

PCT No. PCT/GB92/00982 Sec. 371 Date Dec. 14, 1993 Sec. 102(e) Date Dec. 14, 1993 PCT Filed Jun. 1, 1992 PCT Pub. No. WO92/22634 PCT Pub. Date Dec. 23, 1992. Apparatus and method for the production of monoclonal antibodies, wherein a sealed dialysis tube (18) is fixed within a roller bottle (10) to be immersed in a growth medium (24) contained within the roller bottle, the dialysis tube is filled with a culture of hybridomas (20) to the extent that a bubble (22) remains within the tube, and the bottle is rotated or otherwise moved in order to cause the bubble to oscillate back and forth from one end of the tube to the other.

5426038 PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF AN ANTIBIOTIC COMPOUND WITH ZALERION ARBORICOLA Fountoulakis Jimmy M; Masurekar Prakash S; Kaplan Louis Westfield, N J, UNITED STATES Assigned to Merck & Co Inc

54~0~ SCREENING METHOD FOR CHRONIC IMMUNE DYSFUNCTION SYNDROME Levy Jay A; Landay Alan L San Francisco, CA, UNITED STATES Assigned to RushPresbyterian-St Lukes Medical Center; The Regents of The University of California The subject invention permits diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) by analyzing peripheral blood mononuclear cell subset populations and activation markers. A positive diagnosis for CFS is associated with an increase in the percentage of CD8+ cells showing CD38 or HLA-DR cell

A process for producing an antibiotic compound which is normally a minor component in the cultivation of Z. arboricola to be the major product is described.
