ROTARY CLEANING METHOD WITH CHEMICAL SOLUTIONS AND ROTARY CLEANING APPARATUS WITH CHEMICAL SOLUTIONS Ohmi Tadahir, Yonekawa Naomich; Horiki Hiroyuki; Kaji Toshimitsu; Ktmimoto Fumitom; Tamaki Takeo Aoba ku, Sendai shi, Miyaga ken JAPAN assigned to Ohmi Tadahiro; Nisso Engineering Co Ltd; MTC Co Ltd To provide a cleaning method and a cleaning apparatus for decreasing the total cost by producing high-performance semiconductor using silicon wafers with cleaner surface, decreasing the semiconductor production cost, decreasing the consumption of chemical solutions and the cleaning time by using a new cleaning method and apparatus, simplifying the recovery of waste liquids, and decreasing equipment investment. A cleaning method having a plurality of chemical-solution-cleaning processes characterized by performing a chemical-solution-cleaning process for continuously feeding a chemical solution to the surface of an object to be cleaned from an upper part of the object surface by horizontally setting the object in a cleaning bath, closing the bath, and then rotating the object and an ultrapure-water-cleaning process for feeding ultrapure water in order for each chemical solution in the same cleaning bath; and thereafter drying the object after cleaning it.

5487907 PROCESS TO RECOVER OIL FROM CRUMBS, FOOD PARTICLES AND CARBOHYDRATE MATRICES Drown David C; Montez Kare STATES

Moscow, ID, UNITED

This invention generally provides a process and apparatus for the separation of oil or fat from food particles, carbohydrate matrices and crumbs in a continuous process, and for the reuse and/or recycling of the separated oil or fat. This invention more particularly provides an apparatus and a process in which the crumbs are mixed with hot water and agitated for a predetermined time, after which the agitated mixture is introduced into a non-turbulent container where the oil/fat, the water and the crumbs are allowed to stratify. Upon stratification, a high quality oil/fat separates and rises based on its relative buoyancy and can then be removed and reused. The water and the crumbs also separate by stratification and can also be similarly removed.

PROCESSFOR THE PREPARATION OF ALKYLENE GLYCOLS Reman Willem; Van Kruchten Eugene M G A Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS assigned to Shell Oil Company A process for the preparation of alkylene glycols comprising reacting an alkylene oxide with water in the presence of a catalyst composition comprising a solid material having one or more electropositive sites, which are coordinated with one or more anions other than metalate or halogen anions, with the proviso that when the solid material is an anionic exchange resin of the quatemary ammonium type and the anion is bicarbonate, the process is performed in the substantial absence of carbon dioxide.

5488185 PROCESSFOR THE PRODUCTION OF ETHANOL AND ISOPROPANOL Ramachandran Ramakrishnan; Dao Lot H Allendale, NJ, UNITED STATES assigned to The BOC Group Inc An ethene stream which contains ethane as an impurity or a propene stream which contains propane as an impurity is hydrated with water vapor in the presence of a hydration catalyst to produce ethanol or isopropanol, respectively. After removal of the alcohol the gaseous product stream is subjected to adsorption, thereby producing an ethene-enriched stream or a propene-enriched stream. The ethene-enriched stream or the propene-enriched stream is recycled to the hydration reactor.

5488447 SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TRANSFERRING A FLUID BETWEEN A CONTAINER AND AN ASSOCIATED APPARATUS FOR USING THE FLUID Patton David L; Harris Clark E; Rosenburgh John H Webster, NY, UNITED STATES assigned to Eastman Kodak Company A system and method are taught for transferring fluids between a container and an associated apparatus for using the fluid. Interface members on the container cooperate with sensor probe assemblies and a controller in the associated apparatus to indicate the status of the container as full or partially full of fresh liquid, emptied of fresh

liquid, or full or partially full of effluent liquid. The likelihood of delivering the wrong liquid to the associated apparatus is minimized. The invention is particularly useful for delivery of liquid chemicals to a photographic processor apparatus.

water-lean glycol for reintroduction into the contacting zone and a water-containing gaseous overhead. The gaseous overhead is partially condensed and the resulting gaseous components are returned to the contacting zone. In a preferred embodiment, the glycol is further purified by contact in a separate stripping column with dry stripping gas under a pressure lower than that of the regeneration zone.

PERFORMANCE ENHANCED GAS TURBINE POWERPLANTS

Janes Clarence W Sacramento, CA, UNITED STATES assigned to California Energy Commission

METHOD OF BIOLOGICAL DENITRIFICATION

A gas turbine driven powerplant having one or more compressors for producing a down stream air flow, a heat exchanger positioned down stream of the compressors followed by a side stream flow coolant line, a regenerator positioned down stream of the heat exchanger and side stream coolant line, a combustor positioned down stream of the regenerator, one or more turbines positioned down stream of the combustor and mechanically coupled to the compressors, and a power turbine positioned down stream of the turbines. Combustible effluent flows through the heat exchanger and to the combustor, and air discharged from the compressors flows through the heat exchanger and to the coolant line and regenerator. Heat is transferred from the compressor discharge air to the combustible effluent, thereby producing cooling air and heating the combustible effluent. The heat exchanger can be a heat exchanger or a methane/steam reformer which produces a hydrogen-rich, low NOx, steam diluted combustible effluent. In further embodiments, a small portion of the cool air is combined with the recuperation water in a heat recovery unit to allow vaporization of the water throughout the initial portion of the heat exchange path and form a two phased feed of water and air to the combustor. Additionally, in all embodiments a portion of the cooled compressed air can be processed by a compressor/expander for providing coolant to the turbines, compressors, and auxiliary equipment.

HYDROCARBON EMISSION REDUCTION Behrens Steven D; Bullin Jerry College Station, TX, UNITED STATES assigned to Bryan Research & Engineering Inc An improved process for the glycol dehydration of water-containing natural gas comprises contacting the natural gas and glycol in a contacting zone to produce a dried natural gas and a water-rich glycol, and heating the water-rich glycol in a regeneration zone to produce a

S&mid Lawrence A Manhattan, KS, UNITED STATES assigned to Schmid Lawrence A A process for providing biological denitritication of a previously nitritied wastewater includes the initial step of supplying to a tank an influent including a relatively small concentration of biomass and a fraction of nitrates. The influent is supplied adjacent a bottom of the tank, and a volume of waste water is retained in the tank. This volume in the tank has a biomass concentration greater than the influent biomass concentration, and the biomass in the tank provides biological denitrification of the wastewater during movement of the wastewater through the tank. Effluent is delivered from the tank, and includes a biomass concentration substantially equal to the influent biomass concentration and is substantially free of nitrates relative to the influent, the effluent being drawn from a top of the tank. During the process, the wastewater in the tank is intermittently mixed to maintain the biomass in suspension within the tank and to assist in controlling the concentration of biomass in the tank.
