through filters which are alternated for continuous filtration thereof, while the non-used filter is being cleaned. The filtered BHP solution is then reacted with H202 and K02 or KOH in a cooled reactor and again filtered and fed to a cooled storage tank as replenished BHP solution. The replenished BHP solution can then be fed to a singlet oxygen generator (SOG) for reaction with Cl2 to emit singlet delta oxygen (to fuel a COIL laser system) and depleted BHP solution, which is then recycled for filtration and regeneration as before. Thus the process of the invention provides for continuous regeneration of BHP solution for extended use in a COIL. That is, extended COIL run times are required by a COIL for welding and/or cutting operations. At the same time the process of the invention minimizes the amount of BHP required to run the COIL since the BHP is regenerated and recycled. Further, smaller BHP run/mix/storage tanks can be used.
For the expansion of a liquid containing gas under pressure in dissolved form, it is proposed that the liquid be passed with expansion through an extended flow channel with a small cross-sectional measurement with generation of high rates of shear. The velocity of the liquid is then reduced prior to the foaming.

The invention relates to an environmentally friendly process for the preparation of compounds of the formula below (*See Patent for Chemical Structure*) in which Rl and R2 are preferably H or alkyl, R3 and R4 are preferably alkyl or cycloalkyl, R5 and R6 are preferably hydrogen or methyl and R7 is in particular alkyl. In the process, the additional use of a phase transfer catalyst can be dispensed with without loss in yield.
The novel integrated process for production of acetic acid comprises the steps of subjecting a feed mixture consisting of (a) methane gas and (b) gaseous oxygen, air, or a mixture thereof to partial oxidation without production of synthesis gas in a reaction zone at elevated temperature and pressure to form a reaction mixture containing methanol, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, methane and water vapor. At least a portion of the water vapor is removed from the reaction mixture, and the remaining partiai oxidation reaction mixture is fed, together with additional methanol from an external source, through a carbonylation reaction zone at elevated temperature and pressure to form a reaction product containing acetic acid and/or methyl acetate and methanol. The additional methanol is added in an amount such that the additional methanol together with the methanol produced by partial oxidation is suflicient to convert substantially all of the carbon monoxide produced by partial oxidation. Excess methane and carbon dioxide are recycled from the carbonylation reaction zone back to the partial oxidation reaction zone, and methanol in the carbonylation reaction product is recycled back to the carbonylation reaction zone and acetic acid and/or methyl acetate is recovered as product.
