treating this solution in an alkaline stage in the presence of sufficient Ca ions with an effective amount of an alkaline liquor to effect displacement of metals from the chelated metal species and precipitation of the metals as solids in alkaline solution; removing the solids from the alkaline solution to provide a metal-free, chelating agent-containing solution; and recycling the metal-free solution to the pulp liquor.
5701642 ECOLOGICAL BURIAL METHOD AND APPARATUS Order Stanley E Voorhees, NJ, UNITED STATES An ecological burial apparatus and method are accomplished by placing a corpse into a coffin structure made of a material containing a nutrient or fertilizer or combinations thereof. The corpse and coffin structure are buried in the ground and a tree is planted above the coffin structure so that when the coffin structure biodegrades the nutrient or fertilizer or combinations thereof are capable of being supplied to the tree to create an ecologically sound environment.
5701763 CRYOGENIC HYBRID SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING LOW PURITY OXYGEN AND HIGH PURITY NITROGEN Howard Henry Edward; Bonaquist Dante Patrick Grand Island, NY, UNITED STATES assigned to Praxair Technology Inc A hybrid system for producing both low purity oxygen and high purity nitrogen at high product recovery rates wherein desorption effluent from an adsorbent system feeds a cryogenic rectification column and, preferably, bottom fluid from the column provides additional feed for the adsorbent system.

roadbeds of higher strength with less total asphalt thickness and having greater water impermeability, and is most useful for all layers below the surface layer. The recyclable plastic component of the material is preferably a mixture of all recyclable classes 3 through 7, or of those materials from such classes from which potentially more valuable recyclable materials have been selectively removed. The paving product is preferably formed by a process of shredding or mechanically granulating used and industrial waste plastic to a no. 4 to l/2 inch sieve size, and preferably to l/4 inch to 3/8 inch granules. The granules are then treated with a reducing flame, with a plasma tlame process, to activate the surface of the granules and increase the surface tension without raising the temperature of the plastic. The activated treated granules are then added to the aggregate and mixed with the asphalt to produce the paving material.
5707488 SCREEN/VORTEX APPARATUS FOR CLEANING RECYCLED PULP RELATED PROCESS Markham Larry Mobile, AL, UNITED STATES assigned to International Paper Company A process for cleaning recycled pulp includes an upright cylindrical vessel having an upright cylindrical screen member open at its top and bottom ends and having a perforated screen wall which is centered on a vertical axis in the vessel A plurality of upright, elongated blades are mounted for rotation on the vertical axis in close proximity to the screen wall. A pulp slurry entrained with pressurized air is introduced under pressure into an inlet in the bottom of the vessel. The rotating blades clear the screen wall while creating a rising vortex of air bubbles produced by the pressurized air for carrying ink and/or contaminant particles upwardly through the inner volume of the screen member. An accepts outlet at the center of the vessel draws off pulp in suspension that has been passed through the screen wall. A rejects outlet at the top of the vessel draws off ink and contaminant particles carried by the air bubbles in the upwardly-moving vortex. In related processes, the pulp slurry is processed in successive screen stages to refine the rejects stream to a high concentration while passing an accepts stream of high brightness and cleanliness.
Fishback Gary; Egan Dennis M; Stelmar Hilary Coyote, NM, UNITED STATES assigned to Plasphalt Project Ltd Co An asphaltic concrete or paving material includes from 5 to 20 percent or more of granular recycled plastic, which supplements or replaces the rock aggregate component of the mixture. The material produces a structurally superior paving material and longer lived roadbed. The paving material includes any and all residual classes of recyclable plastic, including thermosetting plastics and other plastics having little to no current widespread utility. The material produces
